MDF, because of its characteristics, its density is higher per square inch than any type of plywood. Stronger/dense walls equates to less flex during maximum chamber pressure, will result in a more controlled bass response. Yes, birch is an attractive wood and looks very GREAT stained, plus I used it all through high school and college.

Do you not agree?

i'm not too worried about panel flexing. after i get the ports in, i'll add some bracing between the front and rear panels. it'll should help with any flexing.

No need for bracing for a box unless its very big, or has a very long side to it. Birch is just fine...it posted solid DB #'s with my ava. More controlled bass sounds like something some foo at an audio shop said. Only loss from panel flex is spl...not actual sq.

Not enough port area at all man, not that it wont work, but your choking your sub...

For reference, I have that much port area for my 8 2 six inch aeros would have been better...

2 4" aeros are fine for that size box...that box size is chokin the sub more than the ports.

the right tools will do it. Just stop by Don's house and he'll help you out...that's what I did.

You can do carpet AND laminate...looks pretty good...as don and I found out on our own boxes. On mine he did laminate front and back...carpet the rest. On his he did carpet on everything but the front.

Yep ... I'm thinking something may have been wrong with the TL or just need more tuning and break in

well ups guy came today and dropped off my ports from parts express. those things looks much bigger in person then in the pics you'll see online.

i added 4 more screws to each top piece. it helped with sealing it to the wood.
