Is this why mu alternator blew??

Searching the forums, i got to the conclusion that my alt blew up. I noticed there was a recall on the 97s about the altinator, but i don't have a carfax or anything to see if it was replaced.
AnYwAy!!!

There are two things I have done in the past 2 weeks. I took out the guage cluster and pulled out one of the grip things holding the wires in the middle on the back of the guage, didn't put it back in when i reinstalled it.

Second, the car alarm. my bro had his peoples install it. it does work fully, but um, how they wrapped the wire around one of the spark pluggs, had to trip em down the stairs for dat...cuzz from what i know, thats a bad way to connect wires...

Anyways, thats my log. Then the other day, the altinator smoked (well it came from that side). Ever since (two days), i've been living off of a battery. I have a 220A altinator i want to put in but i want to make sure the problem was the altinator. If it isn't, i dont want to put a new one in to just blow it up. FEEL ME?

So my question is did one of these issues cause the problem, or do i just need to replace the altinator?..or sumthin else?

help a brudda out please..

Wrapped around spark plug: a wire from the security system is literaly wrapped around a red wire on one of the spark plug, i think

Neither should hurt your alternator.

Im assuming you have a remote start and that was the ghetto form of install for a tach learning wire wrapped around your plug lines.

No thanks I would not like to 'feel you'.

Being a little more descriptive would help...

i.e.
Wrapped around a spark plug
vs.
Tapped into one of the wires going to a spark plug

and +1 to above

He might have actually meant wrapped around ... Ive seen it done way to many times. No actual splicing/tapping/soldering ...just literally wrapped around the wire.
