6th Gen Upgrades

i just bought an 04 se with no bose. the system is currently factory. i am putting my amp and subs (2 10's pushed by 1000 watts) in the trunk and i have new infinity 6x9's coming to replace the blown ones in the rear deck. I need advise on replacing the HU. should i replace it or leave it. I like the way everything is intergraded into the car but i want the control an aftermarket deck gives. i am also concerned about what the display will look like if i replace the deck. pics would help.

P.S. yes i am a sorry

replace it. metra sells this complete kit that replaces the entire central dash piece. you'll have to relocate the climate controls, but that's easy. everything you need to install an aftermarket deck and relocating the controls are included in the metra kit. as for the LCD display, only the bottom portion and right side will work. anything relating to volume and station information won't be displayed. ac/heat info, the clock, and outside temp will still work.

my dash with the kit and an eclipse deck.

well if the amps have them as an accessory, just run the control up front. the lines are usually similar to a telephone wire. so just run the wire under the carpet and such, and into the dash or wherever you want the control **** to be located.

it's fairly easy. it would be easier if you take our the rear seats. but i managed to get the rear deck off without taking our the seats. just be careful with the B pillar panels. the side curtain airbag stuff and canisters are behind it. don't go stabbing a tool in there and start prying.

i removed that cover under the deck quite some time ago. but yeah, i'd go ahead and deaden the rear deck as well if you have deadening left.

Installed the 6x9's and dynamated the rear deck rattles are gone. traded my 2 10's for one rockford 12. Everything sounds good. i still dunno if i want to upgrade the deck. I am playing my mp3 through the tape player. My premier deck has an aux in and i would love to control the subs. Aftermarket decks just don't flow with the interior. They just look out of place to me. is there a deck that matches better.

make ABSOLUTELY SURE the head unit's ground is good. don't just rely on the ground from the wiring harness. the pioneer's RCAs are very very VERY sensitive and any sudden impulse through the head unit can cause the internal micro fuse to blow, wrecking the preouts useless or becoming extremely noisy.

i would run an additional ground to the chassis somewhere. i went through two pioneer radios recently.

nope. no need really. the controls on the deck itself are within arm's reach. i hardly even use the remote my radio came with.

Metra dash kit and wiring harness came in last night. Still waiting on the antenna adapter and steering wheel control. I'm a little worried because the opening in the dash kit looked small

door speakers

I am ready to replace the door speakers now. i replaced the 6x9's on the rear deck with infinity reference because i was going to keep the factory deck. Since i replaced the deck should i stay with infinity for the doors or use another brand? Are the speakers in the front doors a component system or can they be replaced with coaxial speakers?

they're components. the tweets are in the sail panels. i personally wouldn't go for infinity...and more along the lines of DLS, Rainbow, Hertz, or Boston Acoustics.

Whats your budget?
