small sub or something else?

Well i orginally had the Bose in my 4th gen and i ditched it for 9883 alpine with the ipod adapter, Its a lot more clearer at higher volumes now then my bose ever was. But now i get to a point where i feel the lack of bass. I was rather against getting a sub because of the lack of trunk space and etc. I wanted to have a fully functional trunk for the most part. But i can accept a little give or take. At this point i'm looking at a small powered sub like the basslink from infitinit or that MTX one @ 299$. I don't know anyone who has one and don't know of too many local places who carry them. Does it make sense to get one for the prices they are going for and is the output fairly decent?

I listen to a lot of hip-hop, rap and techno style music. I was overall happy with the upgrade to alpine from the bose. At one point i might go with new speakers in the front.

But right now i lack a little bump bump. But in the back of my head i think it might help if i learn to use the settings i have like the high pass filter and the etc. I just left them at the stock levels and some audio sounds great and some are crap like. Any sites to teach me how to make good usage of my high pass filter and etc.

Do they make sense at their respective prices? Not really. For hardly much more money, you can do much better. Any halfway decent sub in a box is going to be better than a plastic enclosure. Not to mention those amps built in...usually nothing to write home about to say the least.

Quite a lot of reading there, so just pick your topic of choice one at a time and bite off what you can chew.

There's plenty of space saving options for you. Just have to find someone to build you a proper box.
