good deal or not
good deal or not
I called a local audio/alarm shop and was quoted 250 for an autopage alarm (installed) and $350 for a pioneer deh 1900 and 4 new speakers installed. Are they ripping me off or not? Is it better to buy both of those items seperately and having them installed at a shop or what?
Call around and see what others charge in your area to get an idea of where everybody sits price wise.
Be wary of the super cheap quotes though as you'll probably get some inexperienced dingleberry hooking your stuff up. I went with the cheapest quote on my door dampening and got hosed. Guy did a terrible job. Not in all cases, but the better the installer, the more expensive it may be. Just call and ask. Try and see who their best installer is and see if the rates vary.
Need a little more info on what you have already though. Is an amp going in and are the speakers in the front components or coaxials?
If you're buying the h/u through them (saw it going for 75-100 bucks online)
and assuming you have 4 coaxial speakers, but don't plan on amping them yet, it looks like they want $250 clams for the install job. Sounds pretty pricey to me, unless the dudes a top 100 installer or some super stud. Typically, 40-70 for h/u install and maybe $35 to $50 a pair for the speakers depending on what type they are. If they're components then it's more expensive. It might also be a little more for the rear if the deck is a pain in rump. So using my top quotes $170 vs your $250. A little on the high side I think. Just my .02 though.
Call and see what you come up with.

I would suggest getting your hands dirty and doing the install at least the h/u and speakers yourself just think how much you would save. You could spend like maybe 50 dollars in supplies including a cheap soldering iron and still make it. I'm sure other's who have experience with alarms might say the same thing but those are too complex for my A.D.D.
