Hmm HU choices...

Heres my attempt at a n00b post.

Pioneer or Alpine. Yup just those two, Im quite curious to see the results. Of course SQ and control is my primary gain here.

pioneer just cuz it's so easy to use. i don't like to navigate alpines.

Preouts? Nah I dont have that issue with either. Well at least I dont see any on the HU..

off topic...i know you can kerf cut a MDF board, can you kerf birch? or would it splinter...?

You mean for bending purposes? I dont see why not, its done on Ply sometimes...Although I could see splintering during the bending process.

yep for bending purposes. i wanna try it for my next box build for my buddy. little 1 cube ported for a 10. it would be nice if i can flare the port with a kerf'ed piece of birch.

Me thinks pioneer partially because of the ease of navigation, buy in either case how can you go wrong? Try one fo oen week and the other for another week, start with the Alpine then go to the Pio

i find alpines are more rugged. i had a cheep 150 dollar alpine and it lasted longer and sounded better than my pioneer that was 250. but had more options to play with on the pioneer.

same token, i gave my brother a pioneer like 4 years ago, he still has it and it sounds freaking great for what it is, and for what its worth now. They're both very reputable company's
