Who still has the bose deck?

I am wondering, I really want to upgrade my stereo, but, I like the clean lines of my dash, and, I am really in love with my steering wheel controls.

I am starting to look at options to add amps to the stock deck, and I am wondering what route some of you went, what you like the best, and, what you would(like to) improve?

For me, I'd love to improve my front stage and add in a sub, maybe an eq of some sort. I don't need over the top loud and nothing too fancy. I want more SQ then anything.

I was thinking of maybe adding in something like the JL clean sweep, 5 channel amp, and new front stage/sub.

 

I was really worried about how replacing the deck would affect the 'stock look', which I really like btw on the 07. But, after finishing the install with the Metra dash kit, it doesn't look bad at all. In fact, I'm kinda liking it more than the stock look. The only thing I really miss is the temp reading.

Also, you can get a steering wheel control harness for most aftermarket decks. I just never used mine in the first place so didn't see the need to shell out another $50. My cheapo aftermarket deck sounds 100x better than the stock 'Bose' deck, even on the factory amps/speakers. You didn't mention budget, is why I figured I'd give a little feedback on ditching the HU.

 

Right now I am more wanting to add in a sub, but the SQ of the stock system sucks, as does all stock systems.

I don't want to really go too gun-ho on tering everything out at this point, I'd like to buy wheels/tires and new suspension first.

 

i still have my stock deck, im exactly the same as you when it come to the "stock" look. ill eventually get navi in a double din, that is the BEST stock deck look you can get with the functions. I added a sub, and change out all the speakers. with 2 amps. im happy with it. sound deadener is your friend, invest in some of that for sure when doing your sound system. i used second skin. front stage is a lot better (after a year of not having it)

 

I too like the look of the stock bose unit. Unfortunately swapping it back in would entail about 3-4 hours of work, not to mention only the first 2 of the 6 cds played correctly, the last 4 skipped even though the discs were fine. Also the sound kinda sucked, but then I realised I was listening to everything without the bose sub working. I reset the unit and it would work whenever it pleased so I said screw it and swapped it out. I'm thinking of maybe painting the dash kit the same color as the dash...or maybe the gxe kit. Just so I dont have this black thing in my dash.

 

I have some dynamat extreme left over from another install I will prob use, I want to really clean up the front stage the most. I noticed that my driver's side door rattles
