Currently i have an Alpine CDA-9855.. im tired of the crappy iPod interface.. i was looking at a Pioneer DEH-P7800MP, i know its discontinued but i can still get one.. i was deciding between the P7800MP and the newer 9800BT.. i mean, i DONT really need the Bluetooth on my radio.. what are the real differences between the two? i'm planning on keeping or ending up selling the Alpine.. its difficult to drive and swipe my finger on the "GlideTouch" just to look through a 300+ Artist iPod..

 

what about eclipse? ever looked into that? i had a few pioneer's that crapped out on me.

 

what dont you like about hte interface with the ipod? the new Alpine decks have quick percentage search, where you can search in 17 percentiles, and IMO theyre the easiest to use for ipod integration.

 

I have a pioneer and love it. My alpine was oka but the preouts where a joke. Eclipse makes great stuff if I where to get another unit might look into that direction.

 

ipod interface on the IVA-W200 (now 205) is pretty sweet. Alpine also makes another single DIN unit that is "made" for ipods, with a more ipod-like interface, but I don't think it plays CDs.

the CDA-9855.. the Glidetouch is the main reason why its so difficult to use the iPod interface.. Plus its not "High Speed" iPod adapter.. the Preouts on this model are 5volts, it was the last Alpine with it... i think.. and thats why i bought it..

 

Eclipse.. i was looking into those.. but if i went that direction i would want to just get a HDD Navi Double Din headunit.. but i dont have enough money to get one... i can get a Pioneer DEH-P7800MP for $250 right now.. from a Authorized Dealer!

 

I actually have the Alpine X001, which replaced my old Pioneer 6700. The Ipod functionality is amazing, but it has its drawbacks. I am constantly messing with the sound options, mostly adjusting the bass. Also the radio can be a real pain in the *** and it has no CD player. Not sure if that is an issue or not. I enjoy the unit as it allows me to access the ipod in an easier manner than my old Pioneer, but I suggest you check it out in a store first and see how it works for you.

 

lol, now its just pointless to have a Car Radio without a CD-Player.. What happens when you buy a new cd.. and you want to listen to it? oh yeah, i spent 400 dollars on a radio with no cd player.. But hey, it can navigate through my iPod really well ! Shi.. if alpine is going to charge me 400 for just an ipod playing HU.. they might as well throw in a HD-Tuner and the iPod connector.. it DOESNT even come with it!! :P

are you flippin serious? it doesnt even come with a remote! Most headunits do, and most headunits can atleast play an iPod.. i mean, even mine does... and it has a CD player! sorry, i think that headunit is a piece.. for the price.. i could just stay with my current setup and unplug the ipod from the connector and just manually select the song. ill just leave my glovebox open and put the ipod in my cup holder

 

while i agree with you for the most part, When someone gets a cd, they just put it on their ipod... this is the point of this deck.

I know some people that ive put the ipod-controlled decks in for, haven't once used cd's since they're stock deck, no need becuase everything they own is on the ipod, and for radio they use satellite.
