Any Networking experts here?
This isn't car oriented at all, but the off topic forum is closed to me.
I'm going to Rutgers, and I read that we have a 4GB/wk Dl limit. I download around 10GB a week normally at home, via torrents and online gaming. And I had a nice long discussion with an IT guy at Rutgers concerning how network traffic is monitored. It breaks down like this:
As far as I can see, they have it on lockdown, I can't dupe MAC addresses, or IP's or anything. Any ideas how I could get around the restriction?
And this isn't even for "Oh I want to download music off napster blah blah", I like online games, and it is sometimes beneficial to stay logged in to the server constantly, and at 150-200kb/s during gameplay, we're looking at 15GB of d/l in a single day

- Traffic is monitored on an IP/MAC pair
- One MAC address is paired with One NetID (Rutgers student user account)
- a computer or router can be attached to a NetID, but all traffic through a router would count for the single NetID
- If you alter the MAC address by swapping routers, you need to re-register it to the account before you can access the internet
