so i messed with the XEQ today. the damn thing seems like it's wider than the standard din size. it doesn't clear the width of the opening on my metra kit.

looks like i need to get the dremel out.

i was going to use a tiny nut and washer to mount them the kicks. it should help flatten the kicks out some. so i figured put the ring on the back side to form a good mounting perimeter.

but i'm all ears right now...

here's some old pics of the kicks and one of the rings. you can see the gap on the front edge of the kicks.

pretty much. damn fg kicks are way too small for the 8s...and i don't really want to cut a hole into the floorboard to vent them. so into the door they go. i'm going to try using only a 1/4" spacer. hopefully that'll let the door panel snap back in without issues. i should have enough depth enough clearance as well with a 1/4" spacer.

CD7200 mkII. Thoughts?

that damn hissing noise floor on my CD5100 is getting a little annoying after hearing my buddy's setup with a HX D1 source. He had zero hiss on his.

I still have a very faint noise floor. I have already put too much tim into trying to eliminate it. SO I just deal with it. The Alpine 9833, Eclipse 8455, and the Pioneer 880 have all had the same noise. It gets irritating after a while knowing you have tried all but a complete rewire.

The CD7200 I installed in my friends truck has a little bit, but I didn't wire it so there is no telling what gobs of spaghetti lie in wait.

well i rather have a tiny bit then a whole bunch. you can't really hear the hiss with the volume past 20 or so but sometimes i'm parked and have the radio on, on volume 10 or so and the hiss is really annoying.

Varying opinions on it, but you won't lose the hiss.

There are Very few HUs available that will not present a noise floor, or at least an audible one. All of which are either going to be waaay out of budget or unobtainable with ease. Combination of both often occurs.

They did. I promise you that. Mine cannot be heard until I turn the volume all the way down or just barely up to 10 or so. Past that you don't hear it at all. It took me a long time to get to that point though.

I hope it is as good or better than the previous version. Everyone on ca was sucking SI off I had to start calling people out for blindly saying that it is going to be bad @ss and it will be better than the previous version because of the designer. Not one of which had heard the new sub. One of the many reasons I hate CA.

Let us know what you think of it.

On a side note I ordered a set of AA carbon mids today. I am pretty excited to see what they can do. I hope they are here by next week. Shawn and I are trying to set up a time slot at a local cabinet makers shop to make all the cuts either this sunday or monday. If not, we can cut the wood at his place. Next weekend will be fun.
