What is everyone's favorite "bangin'" (songs you like to turn the volume up full blast on) songs of the summer of 2001?

Mine are:

X - Xzibit
Blow your Mind - Eve Featuring Gwen Stefani
Getcha Freak On - Missy Elliott
Let's Get Dirty - Redman

....and yes, I have a compilation with all 4.

good

Good thread. I really need new music for my collection, especially with this killer new system.

Here's the kinda stuff I like (some older, some newer):

Pink Floyd
Cure
Boingo
The The
No Doubt
REM
Perfect Circle
Tool
Tori Amos
XTC

Also sometimes like the ear candy skank pop.

What do you guys recommend for NEW music based on my totally whacked out taste?

One I like off the top of my head is "Quiet Storm" by Mobb Deep featuring Lil' Kim.

I forgot about "How Many Licks." I have that on my compilation as well. But I am too busy banging "Let's Get Dirty" and "X."

New album *hopefully* Sept., however a friend I know that works for some promoting company talked to here (lucky baztard) when she was in NYC to speak about the internet & unsigned artists (against shutting napster down, etc.)

Yup, saw it and actually didn't like Alanis too much until I saw her live. It was a neat tour. I've seen Tori 6-7 times.

I play this song over and over again until the CD is hot to the touch, my interior lights are dimming, and my CD player is about to fry. Here it is:

Kid Rock - 3 Sheets To The Wind (What's My Name)

It's number 7 on the History of Rock CD.

Unless you've got it already...

Alabama3 Exile on Coldharbour Lane. I even looked it up on Amazon for you. It's that good.
Elemental ELM 40CD ASIN (whatever that is...)B000024US9

They did the theme tune for "The Sopranos" but the rest of the tracks are much wilder. Southern Baptist Country Gospel Acid House and then some. And they use proper synthesisers -which sound like they might be MiniMoogs, so that'll give your system a real workout. And best of all, they do really good tunes.

It's like seeing "The Big Lebowski" for the first time. Yes. That good.

Let's not forget Missy Elliot's "So Addictive". One of the best bangin' tracks is "One Minute Man."

Also, how in the world could we forget dancehall reggae?
