3-Ways in 4th Gen

Anybody ever installed 3-ways in the front of a 4th gen?
Currently have 2-way BA's in the doors that replaced the stock BOSE. Wanted to get more frequency at higher volumes w/o distortion.
Am considering putting mid-bass cones in door grill, mids behind Bose tweeter grill and surface mounting tweeters on inside mirror cover (that smooth piece of plastic just above tweeter grill that is not part of the door)
Any previous experiences would be helpful.
Thanks!

I've got a three way in a 4th gen. One tweet and two 5 1/4's in each kick panel, two 6 1/2's in each door. All Diamond Audio HEX's. All actively crossed over. 50 watts to each tweet, 125 to each pair of 5 1/4's, 125 to each pair of 6 1/2's. The problem with tweets in the sail panels is imaging. It won't blend as well with the mids and the path length difference is tremendous.

Jmax....why dual speakers in the kicks and doors? Why not just do JL free-air 8's in the doors and 5 1/4 hex in the kicks? More is not always better. And you have tweeters in sail panels? I see that they are in the kicks, unless youre running two sets.

Hey Sweet,
I thought you knew how my system was setup months ago. Dual drivers allow a pair of fours to be seen as a single 2 ohm driver, nearly double amp power. Plus twice the cone surface area. Each driver only has to move half as far to create the spl of a single driver. So greater dynamic headroom. It just takes a lot more time to get the imaging correct. As it is my imaging is pretty dead on, except for one small range in the female vocals. I have only noticed this a couple times for a few moments each in the past 15 months. So when I finnish the rest of the system I will spend a month of two re-aiming the drivers side drivers. I don't mind taking this time as I only expect perfection, nothing less. And only one set of tweets, as most tweets are several dB more efficient in the range that they are expected to reproduce.
