I have a new alpine deck that is 60Wx4 and I am going to put all new speakers in the car. I am looking at buying MB Quartz. What do you think? Good or Bad? I would like to spend no more than $225 on component set and no more than $150 on 2-way speakers. I was also thinking about Alpine DDDrive. Any other segestions for speakers? I would like to stay in that price range. What would be the best? I am also putting in 2 10 in subs for bass. I want a complete sounding system. Tired of just bass. Any help would be great.

Thanks Ross

MB's are good....

There are a couple others that are well liked. Focal, Diamond Audio, CDT, and Dynaudio.

http://www.theautophile.com I got mine from here. The ownersname is Peter Lufrano and is VERY helpful. talk to him about your budget, your listening tastes and he won't steer you wrong...

I have MB Quarts all around and I love them. They are very expensive though, I happened to get a great deal. For the price range that your looking at, that is probably MB Quarts low end speakers.
Don't focus on a single brand, go to some shops and see what else they have. Pick the speakers that you like the best and that are in your price range.

I love my MB Quarts. Whatever speakers you get, make sure that you get a good amp to drive them. A HU will not provide enough power for high-end speakers and will blow them up.

I think that Alpine 60x4 is your headunit max wattage. Don't expect to hear more that 15-20 watts without a lot of distortion. I don't think ALpine has made a 60W RMS amp since 1994. I still have one of the 2 channel versions. I wouldn't even bother listening to Diamond, Focal, MB Quart, Boston Pro series, or dynaudio because they are definititely above the $200/pair mark.

You'd be surprised what you can get. I paid $350 total for MB Quart components in the front and MB Quart Coaxials in the back. They were last years model, but they were the competition series (Saved lots of $$$). Shop around and you can find deals everywhere.
