It doesn't really matter what you use to power your subs because they can handle distortion. Just make sure that the amp is powerful.
The difference between the expensive amps and cheap ones is the sound clarity. For speakers you want to have really clean sound so you need to get a good brand, expensive, amp but for subs it doesn't matter as much. Of course if you are doing sound competitions or you're a sound freak then you might want to get some good amps for the subs but for normal listening pleasure cheap amps would be fine.

I just got a decent amp at first... but now that i think about it, i should have saved up a little more money and just got the better amp...
