i want to replace the 8" bose sub,??
i just got some extra dough, and i want to change up my sub. i have an amp laying around the house, so i won't have to buy another.
i have a 2k1 SE, with the upgraded bose system. is it possible for me to switch the sub out and install another sub with my amp??? if i can, do i just tap the signal, like i've been reading?? any help is appreciated. thanks.

what i had planned was maybe singal 12", and then build a sealed box to spec and face the sub up towards the hole in the rear deck (the place where the eight would have been)so i should not get any rattle from the deck at all.
but what about the swap out, do i need anything extra besides my amp and sub to do it?? i've done a complete system set-up myself before, it's just this Bose thing is trickier or so i hear.

If you are changing it for sq purpose then you woun't get rattle, but if your a basshead then the 12 will rattle the deck some it is a nissan after all not a benz. What you can do is dampen it and then get the underdeck cover nissan offers to make it look nice. I would suggest upgradeing all the wireing and not using the harness from the bose amp. You can use nissans wireing but I woun't suggest it. IT's always better to upgrade. Alot may depend on the amp and the ohm load your gonna make it run at. If it's a crappy amp then you can get away with using nissans stuff if its a high output amp then upgrade the wiring.

If you want to keep the 8"sub in the rear deck then id highly reccomend Pioneers ts-w203f 8" free air sub(titanium grey cone). Even though these are last years models you should still be able to get them. These subs work very well with low power systems and should pound with what you have. Also you may want to use some dynamat on the rear deck to help with some new rattles that may spring up.

thanks for the replies guys.
the amp i plan on running pushes 500 watts x 1 bridged at 4ohms.
i think i'll have to change the wiring. if i can find an 8" that can handle the power i might just switch the 8"s and re-inforce the deck.
it'll be cheaper than buying MDF to make a box, plus i'll still have my space.
the problem is finding an 8 that won't bust.
