2001 SE with Bose
#1
I have a 2001 with bose system. the system stinks. the factory sub buzzes and the speakers don't get loud. I want to rip it out and completely replace it. I was wondering if anyone knows how or has info on how to install new faceplate, speakers, amp and sub as well as how to rip out the old stuff. do i need to rewire?
thanks

Steering Wheel Controls
How are you going to wire the steering wheel controls? I haven't found anybody who can do it? I would like to replace my stock stereo (2001 SE) but if I replace the head unit then I would have useless steering wheel controls.

Yes, you would need a new faceplate, since you're probaby getting a new HU. And you would need to rewire since each speaker is individually amplifiedl. I was talking to a friend that installs stereos, and he said it's a pain cause you have to take everything apart. I'm thinking about doing it, but probably not in the near future. If you do get it done, then good luck and post here to let us know how it goes.

The speakers arent indivdualy amplified... the head sends 4 signals back to the main amp in the trunk and from there goes to each speaker... Mine is completly rewired with a stock head. I may do some more work though including new amps and a line driver... Assuming a get the new job....

Really??? They aren't individually amplified? Hmm, my bad then. I was always told that they were. And where's the main amp in the trunk? I know that there is an 80 watt amp under the rear deck for the woofer, but I don't know where the other one is. I wired a CD changer to the HU, and took apart the trunk, but didn't see it.

I would REALLY appreciate that. Nobody here knows what to do with it. Thanks!
