Sorry for the late reply, I've been away for a while...If you have the Bose system, it should be a 4" speaker. Take off your door panel to make sure. If you do, find out if there is a "plastic cup" of some type that goes around the Bose speaker and take that out. After that it should be a 6"....when you find out the right size PM me and let me know and I'll quote you prices with shipping...

Eclipse 82641's...$80.00 per pair
go to Tweeter or your local Eclipse dealer and listen to them.
Generally the 4th gen Maximas have a "oversize" 6" speaker so a spacer ring maybe needed.

Not a good idea to mix and match brands. That is my opinion. Sound waves are very different from brand to brand. Better to stick with one brand on the inside.

From your personal experience Dave, how do the JL separates compare with the Boston Pro series ones? How much for the 2 speaker pro 6.5" version of both also.

My personal preference is the Boston Pro 6.5's or the Eclipse Point Source. I love the JL subs and amps but I'm not a fan of there seperates. They lack highs and mids. But that is my preference.
If you want the Boston 6.5 Pros they are $375.00 a set. The Eclipse 89640 6.5" Point Source is $175.00 a pair. Check them out.

Thanks Dave! I'm a bit concerned about the Point source model due to unfamiliarity with Eclipse and their off axis response. I prefer separates when the mid woofer is in the door area so the tweeter can be used to bring the stage up and even out path length differences a bit. Point Source sounds like they would work well though in a kickpanel install but I'd like to stay stock in appearance for now. Guess I should at least go check out the Point source on the web site. I'll do that now. Thanks as always. Any thoughts on the JL 12W3 versus the Boston Pro 12 sub? I need to make a choice there too.

Do the 82641's need to be amped?

82641's are mainly to be run off of deck power only. They are a very clean sounding speaker for the price. They struggle a little bit with a seperate amp.

Personally I would stick with the W3's...retail wise the Boston Pro 12's go for $300.00 a piece where as the W3's retail for $199.00 each
Sound quality would be a toss up between the two.

Mb Quarts are a very good speaker. Unfortunately I don't carry them. I think that the MBQ tweeters are a little bright for me. Listen to them at your local car audio shop to make your decision.

Sorry I don't carry the Valentine One. How about an Escort 8500?
I am running a JL 300/4 75watts X 4 to 2 pairs of Eclipse 89640 6" Point Source front and back with a JL 250/1 250 watt subwoofer amp dialed into a single JL 10W3D6 in a sealed downfired box.

Not always true. There are many competition systems that mix and match components to get the best sound possible. When I first started shopping for my system, I was initially going to go with a/d/s and JL Audio. Then it switched to Focal and JL Audio when a/d/s discontinued the 640.2 .

Dave,

I have a couple of questions to ask you.

a) Does the 83941 sound better than the 82641? I have heard the 83941 but did not hear the 82641. If they sound equal, I might get the 82641.

b) How much for the 84641A and installation for both the 83941(or 82641) and the 84641A?

You can pick one up if there is a Tweeter store near you.
The Eclipse Point Source speakers sounds better with a seperate amp. The 82641's are mainly desinged to run off of deck power only. There is better imaging on the Point Source setup. The 84641A's go for $90.00 a pair retail...I can reply tomorrow on a Maxima.org price when I go back to work. Install averages $30-$40 per pair. The Eclipse 83941's are 6x9" speakers and the 82641's are 6" speakers. The 6x9's of course will have a better advantage on bass response.

Maybe I'll add the 82641As with the 83941s and be done with it. What's the total damage going to be?

Prinz...what sizes of speakers do you want? I think we have a mix up in model numbers...reply with sizes and I will reply back with pricing

On the 5ch amp question....yes and no...it depends on the amp if it takes a 6 channel input...some amps do some amps dont.

Front Doors, 4"x6"
Rears: Currently 5.25" but I want to replace them with 83941s (6x9)and retain the stock grille. I know you might have to do a little cutting of the rear deck to get the speakers to fit.

Tweeter Location: Orland Park, IL

What will the total damage be for speakers and installation?

I can only quote you pricing on the product. Due to the custom installation part you would have to go to the store and show your car to one of the Tweeter installers and he will quote you a price. Unfortunately I have no control over install labor. This is how these guys get paid. I can only give out deals on product and not on install labor...

84641A are $74.00 per pair
83941 are $117.00 per pair

Let me know when you are ready.....PM me with your name address and phone number and I will call the store to reserve these items for you. Call the store in advance and set up and appointment for install and let me know what day and time it is.

Maximadave, what would you recomend? .

I am planning on putting in my Pioneer 9200 cd player into my GXE with the 6 speaker system. Do I:

A)Get 2 pairs of 82641's and run them off of head unit amp, get a 10w3 and a seperate mono amp, or

B)Get 2 pairs of point source speakers and amp them all.

I'm not a bass addict, but would like to play loud and still have strong high's, mid's and low's (just a little thump).
