Need help with system configuration.

I have a Kenwood headunit, with 4 nakamichi speakers. I just got 2 12" Pioneer 400w subs in a box. I also have a crappy, Optimus 400W amp. Can you guys recommend me a good setup with these? I guess I need a new amp and keep the Optimus for the subs??? What kind do you recommend? Do I need any extra accessories, like subwoofer kits? I am really new to this. Also, would I need a Capacitor? I'd like to go with an unexpansive way if it's possible.
Thanks!!!

If the Optimus amp has a regulated power supply, then you don't need a cap. You'll need an amp wiring kit if you don't already have one. What ohm load are the subs? You need to consider that when you wire the subs to the amp.

I am not sure if it got a regulated power supply. How do I check? If it doesn't, can I still use it for the subs and install a separate amps for the speakers? Or will I need Caps?

You can use the amp for subs either way. Do you have the manual that came with the amp? Or maybe you can find specs online. My listing doesn't specify if it has a regulated or unregulated power supply.
