Replacing Bose with Bose

I have 98 Max with the Bose system and I need to replace the headunit. I don't want to do the wiring and everything, so I just want to replace it with another stock bose HU.

I was wondering if anyone knows if other Bose HUs will work in my car:
1) A Bose HU from a 99 Max - they changed the look of it slightly, I don't know if they changed anything else
2) A Bose HU from a 5th gen, and what years
3) A bose HU from the Pathfinder with a 6-CD changer, and what years

Thanks

1 is the best choice.

3 is good also but you'll spend a good amount and have to trim the mounting hole a bit.

(1) is working perfectly.
(2) No comments. Might not work.
(3) Will work nicely. Guess it's 95-01 model.

A little bit off-topic..... my 99 Bose went out months ago and I thought to get another Bose HU for replacement. However, after research, the aftermarket HU is way much much better than Bose. It's a good time to upgrade your stereo system!

Good luck on Bose HU finding.
