double din

Hey guys,
Im about to purchase this headunit for my 02 maxi gle with bose - without navigation. I know this isn't the right section but i need answers quick cuz the units i want are on ebay. Anyways, my question is..if I get a double din unit ..will it fit in directly into my current slot where my bose currently sits or do i need to buy the gxe trim which is 139.95. I know i can get a single din unit and buy a double din kit..but I really want a double din.

Thanks.

I can't speak for '02's but for my 07, the metra kit accomodates both Single and Double DIN. Which only cost about $20. Where are you buying this gxe kit that is $140???? Have you checked out the metra website, concerning this? That seems a bit steep...

I used this kit http://www.scosche.com/scosche_carau...ItemID=NN1494B It says it's for a 2000 but I think thats the same part # I used. You can find the kit that says it's for our year if you look around.

I through away the lower pocket and had to trim out the center divider. I also had to drill new holes in the factory bracket to make the deck sit flush with the dash.

You can also browse around the 5th gen classifieds to see if anyone is selling one. You can pick one up for much less than new if you keep your eyes open.

Your link doesnt work for me. I really like your setup. Do your steering wheel controls still work with that headunit?

Try this one. http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...NDK778&tp=3121

No my steering wheel controls don't work. Not even the trip. I believe that I read somewhere that you can retain your trip functions with some brown wire in the sterio harness but don't remember and am too lazy to look for the thread now
