Want to build a ported enclosure
Hey fellas,
I decided this past 4 day weekend to work on my car and start a new design on a box for my trunk. I'm currently running two 12" Phoenix Gold Xenon subs and 1200 watt Xenon amp on a 1 cubic ft per sub sealed enclosure. About two months ago I purchased 4" port tubes so that I can build a ported box. I went to Phoenix Gold's website and got the recommended volume for a ported box for my subs. Each sub needs 2.75 cubic ft. I made measurements in my car and 2.75 square ft would take up a lot of space. I still want to have access to my spare since I do a daily commute of 60 miles back and forth. The most I can build is a 2 cubic ft enclosure per sub to have access to my spare. I been doing some research and came across polyfill and based on what I read this stuff supposively makes the sub think its in a bigger enclosure and helps with bracing the box. I'm not too experienced with this stuff and I wanted to know if anyone can give me some feedback and advise on this.
Thanks in advance

don't forget to consider the volume of the port as well when trying to calculate the required airspace for each sub.
two cubes would be ok for a ported 12. polyfill won't help brace a box. if anything, try to use some wooden dowels for bracing.

Each sub will have its own enclosure. The port diameter is 4" and lenght is 8". The required volume for each sub is 2.75 cubic ft. I could possibly build an enclosure for each sub for about 2.25 sq ft and only have 1/2 a ft less than recommended. So I was wondering if by adding the polyfill it would trick the sub to think that it is actualy in a bigger box than 2.25 sq ft. I guess my main question is how much air space will the polyfill "add" to the box?
