Replacing Bose System (sorry)

I'm sure you guys are horribly tired of these threads, and i'm terribly sorry to start another, but through about an hour of searching I can't find what I need.

I'm replacing my entire bose system, new pioneer headunit, polk momo speakers (components in the front, but no tweets yet) and running two 12" polk momo subs in the back off a kenwood amp. But what on earth do I do about the wiring back to the bose amp? I really don't want to run new wiring through the car (I don't have the brains or time) but I have no idea if I can just splice them together or what. If someone could point me in the right direction, I would be in your debt. Thanks.

BTW its a 2001

If you running an amp i would advise re-wiring..the wires for the bose system are thing and are in no way capable of letting enough juice run though the wires to power that amp and push the subs correctly...where are you located I'm pretty sure theres someone on here that would be able to help you run the wires...I'm not sure if your in NY but if you are I do installs and wouldn't mind helpin a fellow max out

Thanks...I've tried some but apparently missed others. The "oldthread" thing works for some, but I've been having trouble with others. But i'll re-read these, thanks!

The amp is just for the subs and is directly hooked up to the headunit and battery. I'd love to be in new york...but I'm stuck in nebraska where NO one is lol.

You can use the bose wires, you just have to find the wiring schematic on the outputs from the bose amp so you can match up the speaker wires. That should be available in any on-line fsm.

i am having the same problem. i found the wiring diagram here:

http://www.moodym.com/maxima/audio/m...s/5th-gen.html

do i just connect the input wires with the matching output wires?

for example: "17-B/Y (output Left Rear speaker -)" with "21-B/R (input Left Rear speaker -)"???

I suggest you run wiring from the amps to the speakers. Don't use the existing wires, if you are replacing the speakers. Thats what I did in my 00. It will take longer, but will sound better. OEM wires wont do justice to your speakers...Are you planning to use the bose amp for the door speakers?

Take out the seats, lift carpet, run the speaker wires from the amp to the doors. Probably 2 hour job.

well, i'm using the existing wires. just trying to bypass the amp. so i've cut the whole amp harness off & now i'm going to connect the matching input & output wires from it. hopefully it works.

does that sound right?

You should seriously consider running new wiring. Since you are set on using the OEM, let us know how it works.

Factual data to support this?

ok, here's my situation: i've got a jvc navigation head unit, polk components up front, & polk coaxials in the back. the stereo shop installed it all but did not bypass the bose amp. Thus, the volume is still not loud enough.

How do I bypass the Bose amp?

(yesterday, i tried cutting the amp harness off, & then using the diagram at http://www.moodym.com/maxima/audio/m...s/5th-gen.html
I connected the matching inputs & outputs, but now there is very little sound at all even at volume 50 (& only from the tweeters).

ok so I was working on the wires and I went ahead and cut all them off the connector to the amp, and hooked up the front left speaker ones. I was going to test them, but when I turned on my car my HU wouldn't turn on is there a wire that I cut that would cause this, or do I have to finish hooking them up before it will work? I was thinking maybe the Amp on/off signal one? HU was working when I first installed it. thanks!

No. But for what I read:
Stock speaker wires are too thin (20 gauge?)
Why cut wires, especially if you are going to sell the car later? I am glad I did not. I took out my stereo and re-installed the bose.

harness

it doesnt directly plug into the sub... it looks like it plugs into the harness thats coming from the cabin. and from there the harness coming from the cabin is plugged into the sub... it must be some kind of relay.

leave me a msg if u can sell me that
