or if you dont have the dough for that one, the DVA-9861

stay far away from sony, and I owned a JVC dvd player (a decent one too, an Arsenal series). It worked, thats about it.. I had many complaints though... the biggest one was the sub-'pop' i got whenever i turned the car/system on and off. Switched HU's to an Alpine, an voila, gone.

The 7996 is not that expensive. I had one and it got stolen but I bought one off ebay for $250 in mint condition. The 7996 is ten years old and cheaper than the 9965. Back in 1996 the 7996 was only $1200 retail new but the 9965 is $1600 retail new. So I don't know what ur talking about^^^^^^

Are you talkin about the DVI-9990? (nismos14) That is really the only thing higher than the 9965 in single din units Alpine has.

Sorry 5 years old... it was still cheaper than the current 9965 back then. I thought that was the date on my old one. I had a few Alpine units so I got them confused.

Still dont understand with what retail price has anything to do with. your comparing SRP now to 5 yrs ago. Hell gas was cheaper than too, but at neither time was one better. Aside from that Ive seen many prefer the 7996 and regard it as the Best Alpine has made 9990 aside.

Just going off what Nismos14 said earlier that the 7996 was/is more expensive than the 9965. I also think that the 7996 was/is one of the best units Alpine ever made. I was pissed when mine was stolen, but my insurance covered it with the 9965 unit. So I came out on top but I would like to still have my 7996.

Sorry to fill up your thread with bickering. I wouldn't get the JVC, cool with the 3" screen but pointless. Get the Alpine 9860 or 9861.

I've got a jvc kd-dv5100. The sound is great, haven't tested the video (no screen yet) but it's an option!
