some help needed with non responsive bose hu

so i sold a bose headunit to a guy on the .org.
it worked fine for me, just a regular cd player. sometimes the display would stop showing if it would bump out of the harness a little but when pushed in would work perfectly. weird. probably a loose connection. but no problems really

guy recieves it this week installs it and informs me that the volume button is not working.
Quoted: Cds worked fine radio works. The whole volume control **** and on off switch would not work I mean i would be fine with it if just the lcd did not work but no vloume control thats the issue.

any input as to what might be the problem? i never had an issue with the power/volume switch.

this is a headunit off a 5th gen w/ bose.

You cant be held responsible if the buyer messed up the install.
