I just installed some 6.5's for the back of my car today. So far I have everything I need except a amp. Basically I want to know if I should get 2 amps (one to power the 6.5's in the front and the back) and get another amp for the speakers (2 10's 500 watt RMS).

My head unit is the Kenwood KPC-990....

So should I get a 4 channel amp and bridge it to power the speakers and the the inside speakers as well or just get 2 amps total as I stated before.

Any clue what type of amp would you recommend?

I was thinking this amp for the sub-woofers...

And get like a 200 watt amp for the inside.

I'm still learning this stuff so be easy with me.

 

most people dont amp their rear fill. front stage is what you want to focus on. if thats already taken care of then just get a mono sub amp. specs on subs?

 

2 amps, one for componets/speakers one for subs.

 

500 watts each, 10 inch MTX subs... I don't know anything else about them.

1st get a 4 channel amp, or a 2 channel and a sub amp. Probably the latter as you'll wanta decent amount of power for the sub.... anyways:

A 2 channel for the 6.5's that does around 50x2 rms would be sufficient a mono amp that does 1000rms @ 2 ohm assuming that your subs are single 4 ohm, otherwise let us know what the coil is on them. Let the rears be powered off the head unit.

 

The 10's are in the box, I have to see if I can check them when I get home but I think it's 500rms, I'm not sure. They're MTX speakers, I will update this post later on.

 

The subs are 500 watts RMS 4 ohm dual cone.... something like that.

MTX Orion series 2 speaks, black cones....

What is your budget?

A multi channel amp may also be worth looking into. A 5-6 channel will give you enough for the entire car (although Im not a fan of rear fill - amped or not). This can however give you the ability to bridge to 2 channels up front or 4 channels for future changes. Otherwise a 3 channel is also possible - 2 channels for the front an one for sub(s).

 

I took another members advice and bought a 50x2 American Hifonics amp for the mids in my car.

So I just need a amp for the two 10's I guess and my budget... honestly I'd prefer something decent but it doesn't have to be top of the line.

I like loud music but it doesn't have to be the best... just something nice to drive to.
