Memory Power x Bus Power

I am trying to wire my new HU (Clarion) replacing my Bose HU + I am using the Metra kit.

This is a question that I also had in the past and never really got it solved.

My head unit came with 2 fused wires: [15A] Memory Power & [3A] Bus Power. Both are yellowish (maybe some red stripes, i dont remember).

Now the Metra kit only has one yellow lead, and it is labeled as Memory Power.

Currently the radio is working, but I have the [3A] Bus Power not connected at all. And that is how I had in my previous car as well.

Can someone explain me what is the purpose of the [3A] Bus Power? Do I have to connect it or not? If so, where to? Someone told me to connect both [3A] & [15A] to the same yellow wire, but i wasnt sure about this.

TIA!

I'm not really sure on that, but the answer should be in your HU installation manual.

What do you mean?

Clarion's manual label the wires as I wrote up: Memory Power Lead (with a 15A fuse) and Bus Power Lead (with a 3A lead).

The Metra kit labels the wire also as following: orange = Memory Power Lead.

So I wired the two which matched the description and I still have one wire left to be wired - the Bus Power Lead with the 3A fuse.

All wires above are either orange or orange + stripes, which I dont remember.

I seem to recall the same thing, with my Clarion unit. Can't remember exactly. But, I do remember that it was fused. Is everything working, correctly? If so, leave it be. Mine is working fine, as intended. Seems that 3A wire is for something that neither of us use

Yeah, it must be a clarion thing, because my last 2 HU were clarion and they both had two fused yellow leads...

Yep.. it is working fine!
