Speed Sensor Cable

Im trying to install the new Eclipse AVN2210p MKll navigation system and I am wondering if anyone know where the speed sensor cable is located at on a 2000 Maxima SE. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

Not sure how much different the 2000 is from the 1999, but I had to tap into the cable behind my instrument cluster. I don't recall the color of the cable though. I'm sure someone like Don can tell you though.

For future searches, it's pink with a blue stripe behind the instrument cluster.

Well, there are 2 wires behind the instument cluster that are pink with a blue stripe. 1 plugs in behind the temp guage, and the other plugs in behind the tach. I dont see any that plug in behind the speedometer, which is where i would think it would plug in at.

You may want to search around the internet for a Field Service Manual PDF for your car. That is where I got the info for my '99 Maxima.

From my FSM:
The vehicle speed sensor provides a voltage signal to the combination meter for the speedometer. The voltage signal is sent
* to combination meter terminals (2) and (4) for the speedometer
* from terminals (1) and (2) of the vehicle speed sensor.
The speedometer converts the voltage into the vehicle speed displayed.

Then I look at the wiring diagram for the combination meter and I see 2 wires coming from the VSS to the combination meter. They are BR/W (Brown with White stripe) and LG/B (Light Green with Black stripe), but I also see another wire output that is P/L (Pink with Blue stripe, as mentioned above) that says it goes "To EC-VSS, AT-A/T, EL-ASCD, HA-A/C,A" - so naturally I am confused.

So if P/L is the wire to tap into, what are the BR/W and LG/B wires for? I feel like such a n00b.

The wire color is definitely pink/blue. I don't recall which harness it is though, hopefully someone can chime in.

I tapped into the pink/blue wire in the center harness and it seems to be working just fine. I gotta say, the Pioneer D3 is an amazing unit for the price. I am 100% satisfied with it.

incase anybody is wonderin the pioneer d3 will work with out tapping into the VSS however if u do tap inot it u get a host of features such as REAL time tracking i tapped mine in my 07 maxima se non bose, its behind the instrument cluster, pin 26 on the harness, the wire is brown. once again i highly recommend if u have the d3 u do this simple procedure to benefit from all the avic's cool features. but its no required for the nav to work, just makes it extremely accurate

I tapped into the pink/blue wire that I saw coming from behind the Gauges in my 1999 Max. However, when I was driving in a car garage yesterday, I was notified that GPS lost its signal. It didnt show me moving, even though I was driving through the garage. Anyone know what happened?
