installing subs to a 99 bose headunit

I have a stock bose system in my 99 max.

I was first wondering how much it would run me for:

1 decent sub
1 box to house the single sub
1 amp
+ possible installation!

I was thinking around 350 dollars, but when i went shopping it seems i am destined to spend at least 4-500$ for the above setup. Is this about correct?

Also if the subs were installed to my stock bose sound system will the subs sound ****ty because of the "after Equalization" effect? I just need some decent bass not top of the line sound quality.

And say i were to install this myself; do i take the green and red wires from one amp and spice them so i can then run it into the sub amp? or do i need to splice from both the left & right rear speakers? Reason i ask is that i have a blown speaker in the rear that i d/c, so could i just run those wires to the sub amp and be set? I am not sure i guessed the correct colors or what not but a simple wiring scematic would be nice! Is this a hard job? I can get to the rear speakers and rip out the back interior without problems. Or even a simple installation procedure would be nice

Also I did read this, but it left me hanging in the dark:

2) I'm happy with the Bose system, but just want to add a sub. Is this possible?

Yes, you have to make sure you have a sub amp (or converter) that can take speaker level inputs. Tap the amp into the rear speakers between the speaker and the amp. However, once again you'll be getting the "after Equalization" sound, so the signal will not be accurate.
Any advice would be great~! thanks!

These are all questions you can answer yourself. Decide what sub you want, find the price, find all the other stuff find the price, add it up, there you go. Honestly we can't tell you what sub to get. You will have to listen to some on your own and figure out what sounds best to you.

This question gets asked around 5 times a week, search through the first 4-6 pages of the audio section here and I'm sure you will find your answer. The other, BETTER idea would be to read the stickies.

Well....I did read the stickies in the 4th gen forum... I even quoted it in the original post. I needed just some easy insight. I checked the stickes in this forum and the majority of them are broken links and images.

I was just wondering a ballpark range on what to spend, and if the bass quality is decent with the stock bose deck before i drop hundreds of dollars into a system that could potentially sound horrible. And yes I tried searching. Ill just go to best buy and hope for the best I suppose.
