crackling sounds with USB mp3 playback

Anyone know why this happens on certain songs? They're very soft, but noticeable. When playing regular CDs I have no problem. My head unit is Eclipse CD7100 and I'm using the 512 MB Eclipse flash drive that came with the head unit. Responses would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

thanks dude for the feedback. Man that sucks. I wonder why it only happens during certain songs. You know if getting a better quality flash drive will minimize the crackling?

Just taking a wild guess here...

But could it be the quality of the mp3?

No because it doesn't explain why it does it on flash drive but not on cd. I had the same issue with both 7100's I had.

I "HEAR" that the CD7200 is better. Have not played around iwth it myself to verify.

yeah, it's a shame....All the mp3's were encoded using razor lame and the highest bitrate, so definitely not the issue there. I guess I'll just have to stick with changing CD-Rs for another few years

hahaha, a few years ago I would in a heartbeat, but not anymore. You know if the crackling occurs when listening to mp3s on CD-Rs, or just via USB? (I've been listening to WAVs on CD-Rs)

Parag, do you only hear crackling with mp3s on USB, or on CD-Rs too?

When I had my CD7100 it was only through USB. Happened on both(original unit, and warranty replacement).
