Directed LE/ Clifford 3.3x inside...
Just got mine installed yesterday afternoon/night. WOW this thing has A LOT of features. I even gained auto windows up when I arm the alarm w/o ANY modules cause SOMEONE named don is f*cking good at his job. Another cool feature is the Smart Start (I think that's what they call it). If the temp gets below or above a certain temp in the cabin it will start up your car until it cools or warms up. Also, if the battery voltage gets lower than whatever voltage you set it at it will start up the car and charge it back.
The alarm is pretty amazing and the remote is just a bonus compared to all the other features. Only thing I WILL miss is the LCD from my Matrix 3.5 where I could check the status of the car (if I locked it or if it's still remote started) w/o pressing additional buttons.
Thanks to don for the Great Install and not trashing me too much about my rats nest under my dash.

Any word on the xk400n yet? i thought these pieces were going to be released togeather? I got my 3.3 installed the other day but the remote start wont work until i get this xk400n module. To be honest im alittle confused as to what all this product will do? Do i just have to plug it into the brain when it comes out or what all is involved?

Its because we didnt hook up and kind of immobilizer bypass unit. I also dont have a maxima, i have an 03 acura CL type S. It needs one of those bypass units you have to buy seperatly, or it wont work. I was waiting for the 400n because its plug and play and thats what the port in the brain is for. I may go with the xk05 if this one isnt coming out until late 3rd quarter. I heard June but that must be wrong. How does the XK05 work with this unit? How many wires are needed?
How hard is it of an install for the xk05 compared to just a standard bypass kit? How is the XK05 Better? How many wires does the XK have for hookup? Does it come with d2d cable or are those sold seperatly?
When the xk400 comes out that is completly plug and play correct? No wires needed? That is one reason im waiting for that unit to come out

installing an xk05 or any of the xpress kits is a bit more involved than a stadard key in box install. besides the standard power/ground/GWR wires, you have another 4 wires that need to be connected to the ECM on this particular one, some of the the wires get split (at the ECM) and some get just tagged in. This is all after you flash the unit with the proper software for the PKN2 firmware.
Id highly suggest a key in the box if you have no experience..

I wouldnt be installing myself. I have an installer thats doing it all for me. Im just looking for the easiest way to go about this with hooking up the least amount of wires, and that seems to be the xk400n since it requires no wires just plug in and proper firmware.

Even for the XK400 you still need the XKLoader. Also kinda pointless to go several months without something just to save a few wires. Just my opinion take it with a grain of salt ..
Yeah i dont really really want to wait that long, these things were supposed to come out with the alarm i thought so thats why i didnt have something set up at the time of the install of the alarm. Im probably just going to go with an XK05 module. If i feel like being patient i will wait for the xk400. I will have to get the xkloader as well because no shops around me carry it, they use the oldschool style key immobilizer bypasses
my installer was asking if this new xk400n just plug into the brain with firmware..how does it communicate with the car without having to hook up any wires? Also what is the auto rearm feature? It is different than the passive feature and the manual doesnt explain what it does. I turned it on thinking it will rearm the car automatically if you accidentally unlock it but it doesnt relock. I dont like the passive arm thing but an auto rearm like the factory alarm i like.

Back from the dead.....
How does this alarm compare to Clifford's Avantguard 5 (and to what I have below)?
What does it have, or what does it do better, than the Avantguard 5?
From Burnurass's brief summary, it appears the alarms are the same?
Please enlighten me Pearl96Max. I'm about to have an alarm installed on my Max, and I'm not sure if I should go ahead and install what I have, or go with something new and up to date. Thanks in advance.
Here's what I have collecting dust in my closet

The G5 systems are still the flagship product. They are all fully equipted with all the accessories that can be added onto the other systems, although the majority of the G5 pieces are all digital and with less faulty tolerance thatn the more 'generic' DEI counterparts.
The only advantage to this unit in comparison to what you already have (cool gadgets aside) is that it is a two way system and none of the G5s are.
In summary you have a equivalent (if not superior unit), but minus the two-way communication.

Don Ive put a few of these units in now. What do you think of the changes (install wise)? Im not a huge fan of the overall size of the brain, i thought they'd be smaller... Its gonna make it difficult in those really tight dashes.. though im not sure whether it'll be easier or harder than a standard external relay pack setup. I really wish they would have made the extra pink/black ignition wire a straight second start wire, instead of a negitive 2nd break open ignition, how often are you going to use that? seriously? late 90's altimas? wtf. At least if it was a second start wire most toyota's and nissans would be all set. Other than that (and some small quirky things that bother me) and the very slight delay when you press a button and the action happens, the units are nice.

I hate the size of the brain myself, but all else seems pretty good. I do love the combined LED/Valet/Antenna. I also hate that they ship in manual mode. Had me going friggen nuts the first time trying to figure out why the car wouldnt start !.
Also, if you are installing the unit in a car with a manual tranny (and not using the NSS, using it the way they want you to), you must hook up tach for remote start, can't do tachless. I had to call tech support for that one, i couldnt find it in the install manual..

agreed with everything you said. Those were the 'querks' i was talking about. Its nice they combined the button/led in the antenna, but they really should have put the plugs on the same side (of the brain) as the antenna!. Eh, at least you can add an additional regular led wherever if you'd like as well.

Ive been doing manuals in auto mode like a normal install. Only on Nissans with a NSS wire though !
Ive even done a few of these without RS just because the client wanted those remotes/features but didnt wanna go through the hassle of the 689M.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I put one in an 08 Rabbit with a manual, but it was mostly canbus and the guy didnt want to pay for the pricey bypass.

I'm going to go ahead and get the G5 installed next week.
