Got my D3 and my scosche dash kit in. Didn't think it would work because of people here saying there was a lot of modding you had to do to it. All I did was cut the bar with a kitchen knife. Worked perfectly. Now I just gotta do a little sanding. Not bad for $12.

Looks good....now try fitting 2 single DIN units into that kit...from my experience that is where the problems occur lol

Looks good. I have the same kit waiting to go in. The color looks like it matches pretty well too.

Yes. Color matched perfectly. At first when I used the regular mounting holes for the D3 it was mounted a little too high. Then I used another set of holes and it was perfect. And to think I was going to pay $125 for the GXE dash trim.

Looks good. $12 > $125 in this case.

im happy for your success.

last time i installed a deck with a Scosche kit though, it held together like crap. I felt that after it was done it was going to fall apart by itself, or if i touched it the wrong way. This is not the case with Metra, I prefer metra to scosche all day long..

but if it works for you, then great!

I actually had a metra kit but it was a single din kit. Perfect for a single din radio. However it couldn't easily be modified to fit a double-din.

Also the color didn't match.

That looks very nice to me. A lot smarter choice than the GXE $125 piece of plastic.

Btw, I'm envious of your leather seats. I'm really tired of getting shocked every time I touch my door after stepping out of my stupid cloth seats.

From what I've read, the GXE kit leaves a small 1/2" opening above you radio.

Also that's the one I was referring to that costs over $125.

I got the Scosche kit for my AVIC-D2. I didn't like the way it fit. It was so recessed everytime i ejected a CD, the bottom of the screen would rub against the plastic. So I sanded and sanded the Scosche kit, now my D2 actually sticks out, but I like it, and NO GAP!

Sounds good and that kit looks good. However, $115 saved is a LOT of money.

Mine is recessed a little bit but I like it. They may have put more screw mounting holes on the D3

The kit had to be cut, and then the cuts should be smoothed out by with sanding.

It is, but for single din. For double din, you have to modify.

Correct. You just have to cut the plastic bar if you have a double din. It even says it in the instructions.
