Where could I mount two amps in a 4th gen?
Where could I mount two amps in a 4th gen?
I'm trying to figure out where I could mount two amps in the trunk of my 4th gen. I asked this before, but I think everyone responded that they mount their amps to their sub box (in the traditional sense of mounting to sub boxes, blech). Anyone have any other good mount points? The trunk doesn't seem very friendly in that aspect.
If I have to, I might mount them to my box, but I'd probably put two extra blocks of wood on the sides of the box to screw the amps into, and have the extra blocks stabilized on the sub box by means of adhesive and not extra screws into the sub box. Extra screws through the sub box is what I'm trying to avoid. Anyone mount to their sub box without putting extra screws directly through the sub box itself?

Here's a link to my 2 PPI a600 on either side of the access home.

This may sound very odd, but if your box has that carpet felt, try velcroing your amp to it. Your amp shouldn't move at all if you secure it well enough. And you don't have to worry about drilling a screw into your box. This is only recomended if you place your amp on top of the box, you should test how much velcro you need if you want to mount it on the side or something. Hope this helps a bit.
That velcro actually works pretty good. I used it on a small MTX amp a while back. The new system I'm working on will have 1 amp mounted on the passenger side wall on a plexi rack, one amp mounted in the floor (it's too d@mn big to put anywhere else) and the nitrous bottle mounted on the drivers side wall on a custom rack. Probably not going to be too much trunk space left though.

dude, just build an amp rack out of some fiberboard or something. It's a lot easier to access the amps when you have a project to work on and you can design the layout without having to work around the backseat.
