Hey Don, how does the Vanadium Line of Rainbow Subwoofers sound?? That might be my next purchase in a few months or so if I like the CMX's. What would you suggest for SQ?

Honestly speaking one of the best, most detailed and articulate subs Ive owned/used/sold. It will certainly tickle your ears and bring a big grin to your face.

What about the 8's or 10's?? I don't want to go too big b/c I still use my trunk. I was thinking about making a fiberglass enclosure when they get installed in my trunk. Maybe two 8's. Something that I can pull out rather quickly if I need to use the whole trunk. I am not trying to win any competitions, just want it to sound good really. Not trying to make my kids deaf. What do you think? Is that a good idea?

All of them will perform quite well and all utilize relatively small enclosure doing so.

I do indeed, although unfortunately most shipped on Friday rather than Thursday. All shipped though !

If anyone wants tracking info just PM me your name (real name) and I can reply with it. The amount of time it would take to sort through all payments and send tracking that way you would prolly see your speakers first.

Have you installed and heard them in a "sealed" enclosure? I was wondering about fiberglass also. What do you think?

Fed-ex is stupid.

They cannot hold the package at thier location.

However after the 3rd failed attempt. They will send me a notice that the package is to be picked up somewhere.

They cannot bypass the 3 failed attempts however.

They Fail.

Horribly. That means.... Today (weds) Fail. Thursday Fail. Friday Fail.

I get nothing untill next week.

Fed-ex FTL this time.

Rainbows just came in today!

they look VERY well built

i LOVE the screw terminals on the woofers! i cant stand slipon connecters on other speakers!

cant wait to test these out

1 question though, in the paperwork it says the SLC265s go down to 50Hz where the Kicks only go down to 80Hz (not that i will be sending bass to them) but i thought the Kicks were designed for more lowend response

or did i read the documents wrong

You will also note on the mounting flange where the screws fit nice and snug.

Yessir you read wrong. Kicks must use a HP of 80Hz. Their primary gain is in the 80-180 range which is where you would see the most dramatic 'kick'.

oh ok, that makes more sense

should i let the SLC crossover cut out anything below 80Hz or should i do that through the headunit

right now with the stock Bose speakers, i have the HPF set to 180Hz i believe

The SLC crossover does nothing in that situation.

The headunit/amplifer should have a setting where which is HPF, which would filter out anything BELOW the setting you put it at.

So you put it at 50, 80hz and it filters off anything below.

Wow, all this time I thought that the crossover actually did the work. Didn't know that.

Got my SLCs in today!

Thanks Don! One question though, I'm thinking of getting an amp that has ~150w @4ohm at 12v. Is that too much to run to the SLCs?

It would not be too much, but also dependant upon the amp itself. What is it?
