Slight farting noise from left midbass driver

According to the specs on my DLS iridium 6.3 3-ways, the midbasses can go accept frequencies as low as 50 Hz. I have the HPF on my deck at 80Hz. But on songs with deep bass (techno, rap) I'm hearing some slight farting noises from the left driver. I have the bass setting at 0 and the all the PEQ settings flat. Thanks

What is the roll-off on your amps hpf (12 or 24 dB/oct)? You may need to set it higher.

Play the same piece of music and slowly increase the amps hpf setting until the "farting" goes away.

ok, should I stay at 12 or go to 24 db? And nothing should be done to the LPF right?

If your amp is 12/24 switchable, then set it at 24 and leave the 80Hz setting alone. If it still "farts", then slowly increase the hpf setting.

LPF is for subs or I suppose midbass on an active setup. Leave that one alone.

i think i fixed it--I had the head unit on 3-way set up instead of the proper 4spk + Sub set up. Since I'm running and 3-way is only for active setups, I had to switch. Thanks though!

That's what seems strange to me. You actually have 3 ways but have to use the 4 speaker + sub setup. Do we know without of a shadow of a doubt that the 3 way is for active users only?

Curious too, what did you have your highs crossed at while in the 3 way setup?

Oh and how do you like the sound in the 4 speakers + sub setup v. the 3 way? You find those choice x-over points in the 4 + yet?

yeah thats' what i was thinking originally too--but looking at all the options/settings in the 3-way setting, I can see how that's only for active setups. I don't remember what I had while in 3-way, but now I have the woofer xover at 50Hz and 12db slope.

3-way is active only.

It doesn't matter what he had it crossed at since it would have no effect, the signal was passing into the passive xovers then to the speakers. Plus IIRC, he had those settings all set on pass.
