perfect fit sub box

Anyone know where to buy a sub box that will make a nice fit in the area behind the back seats. I want to put just one 12" Kicker COMP or COMP VR. I want to take up as little trunk space as possible, preferably take up all the width and height space and minimal depth. The manual recommends a min. of 1 cubic foot of volume for the VR's.

try building your own. it's really not that hard.

make the box wide as possible so you can push it all the way in.

Where do you live GoldMax? I am sure you can find someone local to help out with the build. I actually have a box already built with that internal volume except it is more square than what you are looking for. It would be very easy to build though.

DC. Man I'd rather pay someone to build it to be honest. I found this guy on ebay that did a real nice job:

140 for a sealed box is overpriced IMO.

+1. There has to be a stereo shop in your area that sells sealed boxes. And they shouldn't cost $140. Atleast not for just the box.

dude, i may be able to help u uberly with this, but it will involve u not being lazy, and learning to, if you dont already, know how to use tools, liquid nails, and screws.

I have a perfect fit sub box that i built for my two typer r's and it fits the angle of the backseat perfectly as well as width and height.

Ill have to do some digging for the schematic i made for it with all of the dimensions, but u can certainly work off of that to build your own. Its the only way u are truely going to get a fitted box.

Thanks sub. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big do-it-yourself-er. I just installed my complete system into my car, HU, amps, speakers, and ran new wire even to the doors. And I do all my routine maintanance too. I just don't have woodworking tools and don't want to spend the money to buy them. Home Depot charges for cuts and they still screw them up. Either way if you find the schematics let me know and maybe I can rent or borrow the needed tools.

Not what I was looking for really. Thanks though. I want the box to take up the back of the trunk not the sides.

Honestly that is going to be an odd shaped box and you're probably unlikely to find a pre-made one to those dimensions. Just using 3/4" material with a 36" width, 15" height the box would only need to be 5.25" deep (external box dimensions) to get one cubic foot. A CompVR 12 needs 6.25" of top mount depth and should have a little more to be safe. So once you factor that in you're looking at a lot more volume than you need if you go full width and height.

CarAudioHelp,

Thanks for your help. After reading on many audio forums I'm now leaning more toward a FI Q12. Any advice here on that? I'm between that one and the kicker CVX12. The kicker is much cheaper on ebay which is a huge plus, but requires a bigger box.

the Fi Q will crap all over the CVX in terms of output. it doesn't sound that bad either. I currently have it in a 1.0 cu ft sealed box and it still gets fairly loud.

But is it worth the extra 100 bucks? Why do you say it's better output and doesn't sound that bad either? kind of contradictory. Where did you buy the box?

What he probably means is that it is louder than the CVX, and the SQ isn't that bad either.

Nice setup. Very professional. So is the SQ better than the CVX12?
