2 12's FG work in progress
2 12's FG work in progress
Taking on my second FG project. Here's a pic of my first. Just glassed and filled the rear deck. Slanted two 6.5's and I've got a tv that I am putting there for shows. It's a tear drop witha screen in it. Again it is only for shows that I put it in. I'll get pics of that up later.

Here's the construction of my sub set up. I'll take a some more progress shots. I've got two separate pieces too. One for the back wall and one coming down the center to cover the channel. My ports will be in the channel and pushed right towards the cab.

Ran the fleece through the gasket and pulled it tight there. This way to cover all the sides.

I've already saturated, matted and saturated again. I've layed about three layers of glass so far. I am going to mat it out again and lay bondo hair/glass today. Overall I'll have more then enough glass/matting/bondo to keep it from cracking under beat.

I mixed bondo hair with FG resin and created some volatile ****. Not so much boom but it gets hot! Almost too hot to touch so I put the dryer on it and cooled it down. Once it dries though it's extremely tough. I coated both inside and out.
This is a learning experience. A piece of advice to anyone doing their own build I'd recommend tacking the bottom on create your design and resin. Once it dries then you can take the bottom off to get the inside saturated. It's a pain in the *** to resin the inside through the sub spot.

Thanks... It's a process and I can see why some spots charge what they charge.
Filtor I am coming to you when my ends are right. I haven't forgotten about you and thanks for the deal.
I'll keep posting pics of this project from beginning to end.
I am also getting another rear deck lid to build. I am going to build this one up with two 8's and maybe a tv too. That one I'll sell though.

And as i said before, great work!
This is a slow process... I am ready to get the low end back in. However, I've seen some other DIY projects where there wasn't enough layers and it started cracking under pressure.
I've got about 4 layers now on each. The part in the middle will only have two considering it will host a tv and maybe some 6.5's. My amp will sit under the ramp there in the channel where the air from the ports is coming through. I've got some sanding left to do and then I am going to finish up the back side. Pics to follow.

Update:

I've got a small section to fill the gap between the box. It'll hold a componet set. Actually two tweeters will rest in the lower center piece ( missing ) and a 6.5 going up. Then I'm going to put the tv above that. I am going to paint the triangle part the color of the car and everything else will be leathered out.
I've got about two more coats on the boxes themselves. Mainly fill in spots. And one more coat, some sanding, priming and a top cover for the triangle.

Is there any chance in you notching an area out for the motor structure for your drivers. I am not even sure you will get anything with a standard 12 spoke in there. With such big enclosures and so much space taken up for the boxes it would be a shame to be forced to use a shallow mount. Can you post up a picture with a tape measurer extended from the mounting surface to the bottom of the box? Basically straight back, 90deg from the baffle face.
Oh yeah, you may be able to invert the subs if they would clear that center piece.
Another thing I was thinking of is making a ring to give you enough spacing for the sub and mirror that on the tweeter mid combo in the center.
Just brain storming a little.

Yeah... I thought of making another sub ring to give a little more space. I'd need to do that if I wanted to actually paint the sub boxes in the future. With it wrapped you'd see a lot more detail, which is straight.
I'll take the measurements today when I get home from work.
