Pioneer DEH-P4000UB installation issues

okay so i'm trying to install this into my car, i connect the wires to the correct color and everything, but for some reason my head unit isn't powering on. my friend just installed his the other day and it works like a charm. i was previously using a clarion HU and that was working fine. any ideas on why it isn't powering up?

this is what i read up
"Why did this happen you may ask? I ordered the wrong interface which my vehicle needed-see above and ordering w/o talking to an advisor! Phoned support and in conversation, Steve recognized that I
did not have the correct interface. I received the correct interface on Tuesday and crimped all wires together according to included instructions and voila! less than an hour in prep time-total time for install was 1 hour 45 minutes. "

i bought this brand new from best buy and i had exchanged it this morning along with the wire harness hoping that my problem could be solved that way. i really want this thing to work because i really would enjoy using the ipod read function.

any help would be appreciated ( by the way i have a general idea of what im doing when im putting the wires from the HU and connecting them with my wire harness because i connected and installed my clarion 2 years ago.)

1. Checks fuses under dash and the one behind the radio..

2. Only wires that are important for the unit to power up is Bat, 12V and Ground. Red, yellow and black. Check the ground first to make sure it is connected and not loose or anything. If not that...faulty?

how do you check the fuses behind the radio, and under the dash? i had just tried installing this last night and before i took out my previous HU, everything was working like it should. i didnt have any problems taking out the a/c, time, vents and such to get my old HU out. interestingly enough i just exchanged the pioneer HU and wire harness so i doubt it could be that? is there any way one of the fuses could have gone out?

behind the radio (where you plug the harness in, you should see a 10 or 5 amp fuse somewhere. pull it out and see if its busted or not...

under the dash, its above your left knee when your in the driver seat. Look at the panel to see which one is the audio fuse.
