pics of d3 install 03 maxima

Here's the almost finished product. I posted pics in my other thread but decided to start a new one. Used the oem bracket, with slotted holes done at work on a milling machine. It isn't perfect, but I wanted to get it together for our local maxima club meet this weekend. I have to grind some of the old oem dimples on the brackets to make it better. And the centre vent isn't sitting correctly because the rotate for the vents wasn't reinstalled correctly. It will do until I find the gxe kit

Woopse. That was what I meant. Have you ever thought about the GXE kit?

I think he has enough know how to make it look better. IMHO, the GXE with some minor alterations will end up looking better in the end.

Nice. I aneed to order another one myself. I broke the small bottom rim one day when I was troubleshooting my radio reception. My dash still looks really good, so I think I am just going to call Dave B and grab a new one.

is the only option on the '03 with the bose to make the bracket yourself for a double-din install? I'm just about to pick up a pioneer AVIC-F90BT and couldn't find a double-din aftermarket bracket. only a 1-din with the storage underneath. What did you need to do to modify the stock bracket, can you modify it enough to fit properly? any advice for that install. i haven't had this car apart yet. i'm also putting alphine PDX-1.600 and PDX-4.100 amps with type-r's. i have a couple of other threads up with some ques. about the install. i'm prob. going to have alot. i've put systems in before, but never one's with higher end comp. in it, so i didn't really care about the details. i'm now learning there's a good amount of details involved to make it the best it can be.

Yep, they did. What color did you choose to finish it in?

i used krylon fusion paint, decorator's touch metallic shimmer. At the time I didn't realize it was metallic, the cap was so close to the color of the trim on the shifter and wasn't metallic. I'm thinking I will clear coat with a satin finish and it will look even more oem.

I'm a tool maker so I took my brackets to work and slotted the existing holes on a milling machine because they were almost in the right location for my HU. I still have to modify the brackets a little bit, I should have pounded the dimples flat to make the bracket fit even better. If I had used the existing holes on the HU and the bracket the HU would have sat about 10mm higher than it is now.

I'm currently in the market for a line driver, I have to listen with th HU at 40 (max). I want a bit more volume but don't have the cash to replace the bose crap yet. (doing tranny clutch/flywheel swap this weekend). When I get the line driver I am going to remodify the bracket so everything fits even better and then I will repaint the existing pieces as there are a few blemishes which can't be seen in the photos.
