Someone please help make a decision!!

I have been looking to buy a pair of components for the past 2 weeks. Lots of research made me rule out a few but I am still on the edge. I went to a local store to test some models out. They only carried JL, Focal and Polk and a few others. I really liked the focals and polk. I was not fond of the JL's at all. I have also ruled out MB quart. I think there to harsh.
BTW I have a 450/4 Alpine amp.

here are the Polks I liked

Here are the cheaper Focal's

and here are the other Focals that were, I believe the best sounding )more then I want to spend tho)

The poks were more bassy.. Which would be good without subs. The Focals were more clear but the mids did not have much bass to them. Does anyone have these in there max? Which is the best set for the money?
Any input will help
Thanks

i would go with focal if it was between focal and polk but it depends on your budget and what u want them for if its loudness or SQ. why do you say the mb's sound harsh?

Well it was probably my fault but when I first got my license when I was 16 I bought 2 sets of components (reference) and mounted the tweeters right next to all 4 seats ears. But I also didnt have a sub. I just remember not being able to turn down the real high high of the tweeters, and being able to get the mids to hit. Maybe it was because of a bad install again. Thats not the only reason why I dont want to go with MB quarts tho. they were recently bought out and made over in china and I have not been able to hear the new ones and have heard people speaking bad things about them.

Focals are $10 more..... I would probably go with those. They have a good rep as far as speakers go.

I had focals, they sound good compared to a lot of other brands. It all depends on your budget though. I've learned to do it right the first time. Wasted a lot of money upgrading over the years....

i'd take a look at alpine. i'm setting up a system now with all type-r alpines. 6.5 components up front, 5.75 coaxial rear, and a 12" sub with the alpine PDX-1.600 and PDX-4.100 amps. i listened to the type-r components and like the sound quality better than the polks & JL's.

Have you thought about a set of 08 Rainbow SLC's? They are somewhere between the two Focals in price and really sound awesome.

If you are looking budget wise between the first two choices, I would chose the Polks.

+1 on the Rainbow SLCs, I've had them for a little over a month now and they sound incredible.
