i used L brackets and screwed them into the floor of the trunk, but you can make brackets ot of just about anything, just make sure when you mount them ty the car that you don't screw through any vital parts

Just attach it to the cardboard/wood part over the spare tire well.

I would use the small metal strap. They are the ones that got holes like every 1", and it is about 1mm thick.. So it will hold for sure a sub box. I did it on my car.

Just use it on the top of the box and screw it to the top part of the rear seat, right into that frame. It is perfect, no one will see the strap nor will anyone ever care about the 1mm hole you just drilled into the frame

i'm actually going to put the box in the left corner of my trunk

i believe this is the same location that the stealthbox goes (i have a 99). i might look into those metal straps. BTW i was going to just mount the amp on the box itself, will the affect the amps performance or damage it since the sub will be pounding with amp attached to the box?

thanks

as long as the box is built well, there is really no problem with mounting the amp to the box.

get an RSTB and drill holes in the bar and attach the box to it That way you might be improving handling and stereo, and you won't be drilling **** on your car

My sub box (dual 10") moves around but I just want it to stay right up close to the back seat so it will not be smashing whatever I have in my trunk and I can use the space left easily. I had thought about just using some kind of nylon belt or something like what the seatbelts are made of and I want to just put it around the back of the box and tie each end to something on the sides. You know what I mean? Probably only the rear side of the sub box will actually be in contact with the belt with what I am envisioning. But what could I tie the ends to? Any ideas are appreciated.

For about a week I had a single strap holding my sub in the rear corner. Then the head of the screw was pulled right throught the thin steal of the mounting point. Now I am trying it with two straps. But soon I will be drilling into the floor of the trunk when I decide where I want the holes. I am trying really hard to find a place in that corner where I will be able to see the screw from underneath. But there are a lot of things like the muffler obscureing my view.

re

pull the carpet out of the trunk. go to home depot and get a piece of 3/4 inch mdf and get some simple measurement of your trunk have them cut the piece you need lay wood in trunk make or buy L-brackets from home depot while you are there place carpet over the wood screw L- brakets to box, srew box to wood under carpet, problem solved...simple and looks good and makes it look like a pain in the a$$ to steal...

I personally don't care for the L-bracket look.. another way is to take the sub out of the box, and put screws down through the botton of the box into the trunk floor (just be careful not to hit anything important, like the gas tank ), then cover the screw heads with silicone to prevent any leaks..

OR

trace the contours of the walls of your trunk onto cardboard, cut out the shape and adjust it to fit perfect, then transfer the pattern to a sheet of MDF or plywood. it may take a few sections to get it done, but attach them together and you will have a nice, solid, flat place to mount all of your equipment..

I am not sure of the interior of your trunk, but if it is like mine (2002) there are little plastic retention plugs that hold the trunk liner into the walls of the trunk. I took the one out on the left side pulled the liner down and noticed the plug was going into a metal bracket mounted to the body. I used a metal strap (although it is fairly thick) painted it black and mounted it to the back of the box and into the hole I described above (replacing the plastic plug). It is totally secure and you can barely see the mount.

So you guys who use the velcro, what size are your boxes? How many subs in them? How heavy are your boxes? Do you put velcro all over the bottom of your boxes? Do your boxes pull the trunk carpet around? Do you put velcro just on your boxes or on the boxes and the bottom of the trunk?

I have a box with 2 12" in the trunk. I use a very simple method... a piece of pine wood that's spray painted black. It's wedged between the sub box and the back of the trunk.

That way...
If I need to remote the box to get to the spare tire, I can.
If I need to adjust the box's position, I can.
If I need to have the vehicle serviced by the dealer, I can.
If I need to move things around to make more stuff fit, I can.
If I need to put a dead body in there and it just won't fit, I can.

Err.... that's wasn't supposed to be in there.

*Edit* If I need to store some "other" things in there, I can. *Edit*

I know it's not 100% clean, but hey, it's my car, and I'll do what I want to with it... and if you don't like it, then you may get to meet my piece of wood soon enough. Err.... there I went again.

How far will the RSTB push back a sub box from the rear seat? I'm looking to get one, but my JL Audio Bandpass box (2 12"s) is so big as it is I bearly have enough room for anything else in the trunk.

Oh, no problems with my box moving. It just too friggin' heavy

Hey, what you place in your trunk is your business. Unless it involves myself, my family or friends. So do as you please.

I'm still waiting to hear that rear strut towers are back in stock. So I don't have one yet. But, then again the beauty of custom boxes. They can wrap right around the strut tower bar.

my friends system with his ported box is way louder, compared to my subs and amp and my amp and subs are like 200 watts more then him he has the MA Audio 1000 watt amp with 2 12"s IL subs and I have the 1200 watt amp with the 2 12"s XL subs but in his truck it hits so much harder. As soon as I close my trunk the hood rattles like crazy and you can't hear any bass on the outside what do you guys think I should do? does anyone else have this problem

in the inside it sounds awesome but I think I blew my rear back right speaker it rattles like crazy and sounds like crap

what sizes are your box mine is a pretty small sealled one
