How to install an amp/sub in a 4th gen?

This is my first time installing an amp and a sub in a car and I am having a hard time finding model specific instructions. I wired in an aftermarket head unit with no problem and have all the adapters needed. I am not sure where to find a hole in the firewall for the power connector for the amp and do not know the best place to run wires into the trunk. Any advice would be very helpful, thank you.

i ran my wires down the drivers side of the car, and if u keep them to the side by the back seat u will be just fine. as far as a hole in the firewall, i think there is a location sort of in the middle of the fire wall. i simply just drilled a hole.

There is a hole in the middle of the firewall that leads to underneath the driver's side dash. I led the power wire from the battery through this hole, underneath the center console, under the carpet, under the back seat and out through the fold-down "window" in the backseat leading to the trunk.

there is a harness gromet by the drivers side wheel well where you can run any wire needed without making a new hole

if u do not have a manual transmission u should have a clutch plate that u can drill through for ur power wire. It is located to the left of the steering column. just tuck the power wire under neith the kick panel and side panels until u get to the back seat. U can take out the bottom portion of the back seat by pulling 2 tabs on each side of the front part of the seat. u will then have easy access to running wires and rca's into the trunk.

Just put it through the top of the driver's side wheelwell (use zip ties to tie it to the wires already going through there) and go through the rubber grommet right there....MUCH easier than drilling a hole in places where drilling a hole is not such a good idea.

glad to see 4th geners unite and try to assist someone. Looks like power is taken care of, just grab a bolt in the back seat area for ground. (should be a few to work with) and remember to run remote wire from head unit to amp ofcourse...wouldnt be bad idea to run it down same line as power....even tape together for more organization...

Remember when you install an amp in the trunk to NEVER run the RCA's down the same line as the power cable. Interference results and nobody likes that. I am very much into car audio and I own a 4th gen as well. Also It seems most are running cable down the driver side and once under the back seat, they run it through the "window" to the trunk. A better idea is to take off both the back rest and the seat of the back seats. Once off, look next to the frame and there is a hole on either side(for both the power wire on drivers side and RCA's on pass. side) to run the cable. Then once through that hole you can dump extra cable and If you mount your amp on the back of your box, facing the "window" in the back seat you can hide all of the cable behind the plastic carpet stuff that wraps arounf the trunk. Doing this not only allows the driver to look back and see if the "protect" light is flashing but also and most importantly allows for a clean install in your trunk becasue all of the wire is hidden and you can see the amp through the back seat "window" which allow for a cool lighting effect at night and more importantly, for me at least living in the south, allows air conditioning to flow from the car and through the back seat "window" and cool down the amp. Let me know if you have any questions about this install technique and any other questions about car audio for any gen max for that matter. I am here to help and insure every Max has a clean looking and high clarity sound system.

Trunk Amp install positioning

I have a Amp installed in my 2012 Maxima. The amp is installed directly on the speaker box in the trunk. The problem is monthly I have to tighten the screws holding the amp in place. I'm reminded of this when I can hear the vibrating noise of the loosen amp on the speaker box. I had the amp installed a stereo shop and was going to take car in but, wanted to ask the forum for advice.
If the solution is to move amp off of box, where is a good location to mount the amp? Also is there a better spot to position the box so the sweet spot is at the driver position? Current position is driver side trunk with the box as far back as it will sit in trunk. I'm trying to use the trunk for carrying items sometimes also.

Rockford Fosgate Amp with 10 in sub.

Thanks for any info

I don't know if anyone is still reading this thread but I just recently installed two subwoofers, a 400watt amp, a Sony Deck and some Polk component speakers in my 1997 5-speed SE. It was quite a bit of work but it sounds fantastic! I document much of what's needed in pics on Facebook as well as building the woofer boxes, modifying the tweeter mounting, running the wires, running power through the firewall into the engine compartment and mounting the amp/speakers in the trunk.

I ended up using industrial strength velcro to the trunk floor carpet. There are tons of other ways to do it but I didn't want to drill and I wanted it so I could easily remove the subs if needed.

Here's the link to the photos/descriptions:

I ran the power and RCA's, etc down the same side of the car. However, I'm using very heavy guage wire for my power and I separated the power from the RCA's in the channel on the driver's side by about 3". I have absolutely no interference at all. The sound is clear. You can't hear any noise in the speakers when the car is on and the volume is turned up. I did separate them once I got to the back seat. Power/Ground on the left of the trunk, all other cables on the right.
