It's a fuse, tail lights and gauge lights are on the same circuit. If you didn't find it yet, you're not searching hard enough

Don't forget there's a fuse box under the hood too...

Definitely a blown fuse. Check all your 7.5 fuses carefully.

Haha, that happened to me yesterday night as I was driving back home... My taillights, license plate lights, shifter lights, and stereo lights went out. I know we have 3 fuse boxes? right? One under the steering wheel, one on the engine/hood, but where's the passenger one that I hear people talk about from time to time?

DUDE i have the same exact problem! well in order to fix the taillights look under the hood. theres a fuse box on the drivers side next to the battery and air intake box. there should be a 15amp fuse for TAIL L. thats the one you change out for the taillights/license plate lights/cornering lights. i was able to fix my taillights that way... however still having issues with my gauges, havent had the chance to take it in to get it checked. but hopefully the fuse for the gauges/climate control/gear box is the only problem with those lights... that fuse is a 7.5 amp. the fuse box is under the driver's side dash.. look under INT ILL. that should be the culprit. if the fuse blows again after you put in a fresh one.... i dunno wat to tell ya i have the same prob =/

The passenger side fuse box (at least, on an 04 Max) is under one of those plastic covers on the left hand side. Once you get the cover off (pop screws, just lift the center part, twist and they should come right out) it'll be just above the coolant reservoir.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a fuse diagram for it on the internet anywhere, but you're having the same problem I am currently. I imagine it's a fuse that's blown, I just need to get some daylight so I can check 'em all without a billion flashlights.

If you look on the cover it will list what each fuse is.

You will need to use a multi meter to test your fuses just because it may not look blown does not mean that it is not.
