Very nice/clean work! What measurements did you use for the pieces?

Not bad. Use as few screws as you can, or use nails.

The glue holds the box togother. Some people think screws & Nails compramise the integrity of the box.

I am not worried about it

only thing screws have a tendency to do with mdf is help it start to separate more.

if u pre-drill ur holes u will not see as much separation.

nails / screws should only be there to hold the box together while the glue sets, nails are less intrusive and will do the job till the glue dries.

using a nail gun is SO much faster than using screws. i use to make all my boxes with screws as well, but parag and don kept giving me sh*t about it so i eventually used nails.

That is definitely different. I like it. Care to go over the process of the boxes edges and how you got the finish you did?

- When I built the box I inset the ends 1/2" to make the carpeting go a littl easier.

- I got to the point you see in the first picture, and cut strait up from all 4 corners.

- Then I folded the sides down to overlap, and cut from the corner to the middle to make clean seams for the corners.

- I folded the sides over 1 at a time, and stapled them around the inside edge and cut the carpet along the inside corner it made

- Once all 4 sides where folded over, cut, and stapled in place I glued in a 1/4" Piece of luan. It fit in nice and snug to the carpet. The purpose of the luan is to hide the staples.

- Then I glued the end pieces of carpet on, to finish it up

It looks 10x better than I expected. I would seriously buy this from a store with no questions.

I just wish I took a little more time seaming the bottom. It stuck before I got a chance to line it up perfectly, but it is damn close. LOL

Nice. I appreciate you taking the time to explain that. I have only ever build small sealed square and larger ported boxes and have never tried to put flare like that on the side. Mainly out of ignorance, not for lack of wanting to try.

Thanks again! I look forward to seeing the rest of the build.

It is the first time I actually made a crapeted box look good. Last time I carped a box was almost 10 years ago. Its nice to see I still got it.

Got all the component speakers in over the weekend, and hooked up the Pioneer Amp. We ran all the wires for the 2 JL Amps, and are ready to install the Subs this coming weekend.

Even without the Subs it is noticable louder. It sounds great

We had trouble finding a place for the amp. we were gonna put it under one of the front seats, and it was so close to working it hurt. I spent an hour trying to make it fit under there, and eventually gave up. Now its in the trunk.

We put the empty sub box in the trunk, and it looked great, and fit perfect, but when we tried to close the trunk the bars that go across rubbed across the top of the box, and will eventually wear the carpet away. Gonna try some things to get around that before I try to modify the box.

The box looks awesome, but quick question: Did the wiring terminals get added after the carpeting because I don't see a way to get wiring in there now? I would figure adding the terminal holes before carpeting would be easier...
