Looking for new subs

Fellas,

I currently have two 12" PG xenon subs powered by a 1200 watt mono PG Xenon amp. Subs are in a 1^ft sealed box facing the back of the trunk. I have had this setup for over 2 years already, but now I'm finding that my subs are not hitting how they used to. I been tweeking the amp setting and HU settings, but my subs are not as loud as before. I'm lloking to buy some new subs, but this time I want something that will hit hard, so I would like to hear your opinion on good subs. I still want to keep my amp and Box if possible. The boc might be a little over 1^ft, maybe about 1.10^ft.

Can you guys give me some ideas on what subs I should look into that would out perform my PG?

Thanks in advance

the subs are just broken in an conditioned after 2 years the surrounds are probably soft by now, is your box cubic footage internal w/out displacement of the subs or w/? this is a factor in how loud they will play in the box, if you will be keeping the same box look at subs that are suited for the size of the box after sub displacement

You may just be used to them now, you may want to just drop in some replacements of the same type if you liked them, or replace with something else.

Thanks for the responses. Each sub is 1^ft/ chamber. I did do a ported box a while back, but it took up too much space and my subs are not recommended for that type of enclosure. I also didn't really like how the subs hit.

I never thought about the subs being conditioned, but I'm sure that's what is causing my subs to not sound as loud as before. I would like the same subs, but there no longer for sale and Ebay only caries the 10" subs.

AscendantMax, thanks for your comment. How much do the Fi Q subs run for and what model should I look at?

I might get those, not sure if they really perform the way Ebay is discribing them. Anyone heard these before?

i doubt the sub being 'conditioned' is causing the 'lower' output. i think you're just getting used to them. a sub that's fully broken in doesn't have that big of an impact on potential output.

the Fi Q's run about 250 shipped. They'll take upwards of 1000-1200 watts rms, but i wouldn't send any more than that per sub. but i would try porting your speakers if you want more output. it'll be your cheapest route.

Fi Qs are a good choice
Some type Arghs would work also..cheaper then the Qs and less power hungry...

i say new box and 2 15s...that will add a lil more bump in your trunk...

I just noticed that my subs are wired at 2 ohms. Both subs are 2ohm dual voice coils. My amp can handle anywhere between 1-4 ohms. If I wire my subs at 0.5 ohms, can my amp still handle that? I think if re-wire my subs I might get a little more thump.

No it can't it can do 1-4, and will still give you the same power at .5 before it fry's. The problem isn't the amp (nor the wiring), unless there is damage to it.

Thanks for the responses. There are a couple of things I want to try this weekend before I decide on buying different subs. If all goes well I will keep what I have, but if not I will look into buying new subs.

In a 2K Max with Bose. I used a JL 12W3V2 in a sealed box held off the floor right up to the original opening powered by a Fosgate 300W amp. It worked great and rattled the car. I have bass boost installed so it worked well. I have since moved to a JL 10W3v3 for tighter sound and smaller packaging. Works very well with the factory BOSE setup. The front door/A pillar speakers are starting to sound ragged and will be time for an upgrade soon. They are just not as crisp as MBQuarts.
