Line Driver or Sound processor?
Line Driver or Sound processor?
I'm trying to beef up my bass. I been told by Phoniex Gold that I need a line driver to beef up the RCA signal and get a better sound out of my subs. I went to a car audio dealer and was told that a Sound processor would do the work I'm looking for.
Which is better? Could I use both?
Thanks

Ok, this is what's happening. My current setup is each sub in a 1^ft sealed box per sub. I'm running 0 awg from a yellow top to the amp (+) and (-). My amp is tunned and all, but my gain is up more than half its way up. If I go any lower my subs don't hit as hard as they should. Both subs are also wired at 2 ohms since they are 2 ohm dual. My HU sends a 2.2 volt signal and I was wondering if the line driver would make a difference in sound.
What would you suggest with my current setup and were can I find it?
I called PG and they suggested I buy one of these.http://www.mobilesoundworks.com/Prod...ductCode=tld22
If you can suggest anything else, please let me know. Don if you sell something please let me know as well.
Thanks

I've had different setups before that didn't require to have my gain up that high. I know it's safe to a point, but the tought that it takes that much gain to make my subs hit is annoying.
sounds like a line driver may be what you are looking for. the tru ssld6 is the most popular around here. the pg tld22/66 can be had for much less and might do the job for you as well.

If you're willing to spend that much money ($100?!) on a line driver you might as well get a more powerful amp and sell you current one. A line driver certainly doesn't make the signal any better. Not to mention you still have to pay a couple of bucks for some more wiring going this route. If you HU was putting out less than 2V than I could possibly understand the point of a line driver.

Even if I sell my amp I wont get enough from it to buy a more powerfull amp. Wiring is not a big deal. 3ft RCA's and 14-16 awg wiring for (+), (-), and remote is all I need, which I already have.
iirc the xenon amps need a decently high input voltage as it is. i think using that amp you're gonna need a ld for anything short of a top-o-the-line hu. keep in mind that $100 ssld6 is way under what you will pay anywhere else. if that's the plan i believe s.r.p. is $275 or so.
I like my HU so far. I know it's not the best, but I would have to buy and new HU and rewire everything again. I hate the spagheti wire and it took me a while to fix the wiring behing the HU. Don't want to go through that again
I think I will go foward with the LD.
Anyword on the Audio Control Epicenter?

SRP is $329.

Marketing the SSLD6 as just a line driver was a major critical mistake. This little gem is some much more and well worth the cost.
So you are saying that buying a more powerfull amp (more than 1200 watts) is cheaper than a $100 driver?

i picked up a xenon 200.4 so i did a little research and people (pg enthusiasts) are pushing up to 10v to the xenon series to get them to perform properly. i bought a tld66 line driver for it since it will be my "budget" install.
i had an ssld6 and regrettably sold it thinking i was going to go another route. i will be buying another one soon enough for my higher end install.
bottom line seems to be you are going to need a line driver. even 5v outs don't seem to cut it from what i've gathered. the pg guys swear by anything with pg printed on it and therefore swear by the tld22/66. the high end guys swear by the ssld6. i guess it comes down to what type of results you are expecting and how much you want to spend.

Thanks for you reply.
I did give a good solution. Even according to you the amp is proven to not work well a low level signal. I gave a fine alternate solution on top of the already recommended line driver which has already been recommended in this thread I guess you missed it. The OP is not getting the 1200w that they want.
well if that's a good solution then i don't know what this website is here for.
"maxima isn't fast enough? don't add a y-pipe, buy a vette!"
actually, that does sound like a good solution.
