Hey, I was looking to maybe do a double din touch screen in my 5.5 gen soon. I need to get the dask kit from the GXE, I believe. From what I heard, it fits the best and matches color perfectly, but what size screen needs to go in there? I guess I need more info on getting it mounted in the car first.

As for the screens, I don't wanna pay alot for it, so I found a few on eBay that I thought might be good, but I don't know if they are or not. So i'm hoping someone can look at these and tell me what they think about them. I don't need amazing quality, just something that will sound as good as the stock non-Bose unit.

and the one I liked the most

Can anyone tell me if these are good or what else to look for? Like I said, I don't want to spend alot. Thanks.

Not spending a lot and buying a touchscreen don't go together. How much is "not a lot"?

Like $250 was the most I wanted to spend. Is there an good quality ones out there in or close to that price range?

Screens that are in the $200-300 range usually have poor screen quality and cheap materials and they don't sound good.

I've used the Jensen screens in that price range (not in my car obviously), and not only do they sound worse than a price-comparable single DIN, they are harder to use and have less features for expandability.

Read this

And Eclipse isn't the "best" there isn't a besthead unit. Eclipse is just one of the higher qualities ones. Alpine makes nice ones also.

Cheap/poor
Expensive/quality

Pick one.

You get what you pay for.

I think I've figured out what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna build a CarPC because I have all the components I need for it, really. I just need a double din dash kit and a screen. I was looking at the new Lilliput 701 model. Anyone else do a CarPC in their 5th gen before?

...Hmm... maybe I should create a new topic about this.

Those cheap DVD/CD player units usually have issues with skipping during DVD playback (ie. you get what you pay for)...you need to check the specs of the unit to see what the preamp output (voltage) is...I'm guessing its pretty low for those cheaper head units

Ebay is a gamble. I've purchased a DVD screen on there and it was fine and still is. I've also heard horror stories about ebay...

If I had the money, I would go with Kenwood all the way!! But I'm not. Personally, I wouldnt buy anything that major, unless I'm going to be selling the car I'm putting the touch screen in, because I would like it to last the longest, and the longest it might be like 6-9 months.
