Poor man's replacement for 00 Blose (I mean cheap!)?

00 with Bose. This stereo sounded nice when it worked, but since I kicked in the headunit with my heel one day (CD player was driving me more crazy with each passing year), it's not worked since.

I could ebay a new headunit, but that's like breaking up with a girl because she's crazy and going out with her twin sister.

So, I can buy a cheap receiver from Crutchfield and either go with an expensive wiring harness and use my existing speakers + amps per speaker, or get the cheap receiver and new door speakers. I think the car has two tweeters, a speaker per door, the sub, and two rear deck. Based on easy fits with crutchfield I'd only be replacing the four door speakers. Does that sound about right or should I do the front door and rear deck (no exact matches, though, at crutchfield)?

Big Q: the current headunit is huge. With a new one, what fill-in face plate should a guy get to avoid a bunch of empty space there?

To the OP. The best looking dash kit is the GXE dash kit, pictured here:

Some may find its expensive. If you are included in this group, get a standard Metra kit for $15 at any audio shop/walmart, etc.
