I have a 1994 Maxima and I want to add some subs to my system. I have thought about four different options:
1. MTX Thunder4000 T410x3
2. MTX Thunder6000 T610x3
3. JL Audio CS310R-W0
4. JL Audio CS312R-W0
Any suggestions? Any brands to stay away from or look at?

Diddo

I would get either INfinity kap's 10/12's

or Boston Pros

They are the same basic catagory

I will let u know this, if u can get 2 of either of these in no way will you be at all dissapointed. If u listen to rap, both of these CAN Hit, and I MeAN HIT! If u like rock n' roll they are really tight speakers, and are probably the most clear on the market in my opinion. AT my work, my boss has 4 boston pros, and its just incredible....but if u do get these nice of subs, u really need to put some money into an amp.

I am soon purchasing a
RF 800a2 amp, bridged for 2 Inif Perfect 12's
And a seperate PLD to run 8 volts into the amp =)
i like my bass

Hope this helped ya a little

The Kappa Perfects sound good, but I have heard from a lot of people that they aren't reliable. Something to look into.

Thanks for the recommendation on the Infinty Kappa Perfects. I was looking at them and they look like nice subs but for $299 a piece. Crutchfield is running a deal where you get a free box with the purchase of one. Is this one Infinity going to out perform 3 MTX 4000's or 2 JL Audio W0's? If I do go with the Kappa's I would be looking for a good amp. I was thinking about a Profile amp but they seem pretty cheap. My next choice was a Us Acoustics. All the other amps seem really expensive for a small amount of power. Would I be better off choosing a more expensive amp that delivers less power or a cheaper one with a larger output?

More expensive amp with less RATED power. At what distortion level does that $50 amp make 500W. See it just doesn't make sense. There are some QUALITY amps out there for a reasonable price. MMatts, US Amps are going to put out massive power for the price. Next up come, RF and MTX. IMO the only amps worth the money are Xtant. You give up some power for reliabilty, looks, and sound. Just my opinion.

either he was saying that as subs NOT to get, or he's an SPL freak.

Kaboom..

I'd say that about 35% of the IdBL guys at finals were using them.. very mean lookin dudes too.. I wouldn't want to run into a stroker in a dark alley..

If you're going to spend that much on subs, I'd look at Alumapro's instead. They have a much better design than the Perfects, check the review at http://www.math.ohio-state.edu/~ccun...a/alchemy.html (sorry, they are quite large...). I'm not that familiar with MTX's, but I'd stay away from W0's, way too boomy for my taste. A single 12" in the right box with the right power is going to be plenty for most people. As for power, I'd look at a good used amp, I still like older SoundStream and PPI stuff for price and performance. You're a lot better off with a quality used amp than a cheap new amp.

i just sold my 2 10" sq. kicker solos. i just ordered 2 12" solos. they hit very hard , i love bass. i'm running a rockford 800a2 at 2ohms. i'm also adding a red top optima battery & a 1.5f cap.

ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT JL

My suggestion with your subs is going with JL, more specifically, JL W3's or W6's, 10" or 12", depending on how much money you want to spend. JL's are specifically designed to work in sealed enclosures (boxes) that are smaller than those required by other subs of the same size, so you're saving valuable trunk space. Not only do JL sound cleaner, they hit harder and deeper with less distortion. Here's a great combo for an amp, a Rockford 500a2 paired with two 10" JL W6's.

Oh yea, don't worry about mixing and matching how much money at lower watts vs higher watts and cheaper price. Go with Rockford Fosgate and JL and you will get solid reliablity, and if you choose to order rockford through crutchfield, yer gonna get a good waranty.

Unless you are lookin to enter competition (if you were, you should know about this stuff), or just plain CLOUT, you'll be EXTREMELY pleased with the JL Rockford Combo.
