Where do I even start to tune my Components??

I just installed my Eclipse 6.5" SC6500 Components (75rms) with SE6500 rear speakers (40rms). These are attached to a Eclipse EA4100 Amp (75x4) amp. I have a Alpine cda-9811 H/U.

Question is, Where do i even start tuning? At the amp or headunit? I understand i adjusted the input levels on the rears to half since they are rated at 40rms. But what do I do with the highpass and lowpass adjustments on the amp?

any opinions to get me pointed in the right direction would be great.

Thanks guys

read the manual that came with the amp. it will explain high pass/low pass. or try Google even.

also google "how to set your gains correctly" and then actually DO IT.

you really need an EQ to tune also...

front speakers are most important. I would disconnect rears so they have no sound, set amp halfway on fronts and put volume up on head unit until you hear the speakers stressing a little. This level should be right before any popping, distorting or fatiguing of speakers. Test this volume with multiple songs preferably so you know how the speakers will react to different styles of music.

Once you are happy with this setup, hook rears up and slowly bring the gains for the rear speakers up. The rears should not overwhelm the fronts and/or they should not be louder. They are basically there for 'fill of the rear'.

Good to go. If you like to have your head unit at certain volumes, you can bring the volume up/down and gains up/down a little, just pay attention to the max volume.

For more advanced users, you can play with equalizer on your head unit, etc.

yea. onc eu install aftermarket anything to ur stereo, ur headunit pretty much just becomes a device that sends information to your amps. your headunit should not be set to anything, no bass bost no nothing just completly even all around. that will give u the best result and make it easiest to tune. the tweets that came w/ your compontnes didnt come w/ a crossover or anyhting to go with the mid range speaker? You really need some kind of crossover or something between the tweets and w/e ur hooking them up to unless you conecting them directly into a crossover which then sends the sound to the amp.
