Trying to Find a Sub Setup....

Budget here is $1000 at the most

1.) (2) RL-p12
2.) (2) JLw6
3.) (2) Kicker L7

I don't like the money it costs for a JL, but love the sound. I'm always happy with kicker. I never tried the SoundSplinters...

THey could go in a sealed box and be powered by a Kicker zx1500.1

Any other suggestions?

(Amp is part of the budget)

I'm kind of confused. You are happy with a W6, but also Kicker L7's?? They are nothing like each other. If you would've said you like just the Kicker, I would've said that you haven't heard a non-sloppy sub. Sure, I like them because the local high school kids buy them from me, then abuse them, and they take it fairly well, and sure they are loud, but beyond that there isn't much there beyond a paperweight to me. But the W6 should be much cleaner than a L7, and you like it too, so I'm not sure what you'd like, or even what to recommend. However, out of those I'd go with the rl-p hands down.

point taken...I heard a few of my firends w6s and they sounded beauitful to me compared to L7s. I have owned L7s, L5s and HD3 subs...I see them as subs that can get loud as hell and thats what I loved. but I'm looking for someting that can play deep but loud at the same time...I put sound splinters up becasue I thought they were built for low frequences...and I wanted to try that out. Other than that, I'm looking for something that plays deep

+ can take a hell of a beating...

It sounds like you were already on your way to making the right choice then with the rl-p's, they will fit the bill; a sub that gets loud but stays clean doing so. How low are you wanting them to play? Since you are wanting loudness, you'll be louder ported, and the subs should take the power just fine, but you won't hit the reeeeeally low frequencies that sealed will.

Too bad Chris (filtor1) just sold his Fi Q's, they would work as well...even though Fi is a forum ***** these days, they are still good subs.

Yeah, I would put the Q and several others in the mix too. Especially with the new pricing. Scott at Fi dropped prices recently too.

You sure do seem to love JL. I have always wanted to hear a 8W7. Still haven't to date.

Those little things pack a punch.. But theres this one video of the Soundsplinter RL-i8's that i saw that impressed me.. they blew the subs of course, but that was after like 5mins of playing with 1500+ watts going to them :P

the rlp's will get fairly low, and sound decently good as well. feed them around 600-1000 watts and you'll be sitting pretty. the Fi Q is also a nice contender for SQL applications.

however, the box will play a BIG role on the sub's performance...

my rlp15 in my huge ported box plays loud and low enough to make my visors flap.
